In this episode of The Athlete Welfare Podcast, I had the honour to discuss athlete welfare with Leicester City Football Club and Scottish Women's Football's Sophie Howard.

Throughout this conversation, Sophie demonstrated a repetitve theme based on her own experiences. Actualities such as experiencing a traumatic exit from the 2019 World Cup, feeling as she did not belong in a specific environment and feeling as if she must "fake" her emotions in order to perform sufficiently.

This truly honest, and inspirational conversation delved specifically into the power of support networks within family and friends, sacrifices involved within Elite Performance and being brutally honest with yourself.

A major take-home for myself from this incredible conversation is that it is imperative to understand yourself, question whether you are happy, and what you can do to ensure your happiness. From this, we discovered that ultimately speaking openly, being honest, accepting and realising that setbacks, challenges and barriers are only speed bumps is imperative. If they are too high for your car, take a diversion, but still end up at the planned destination.

I hope you all enjoy todays conversation,
