Why do we experience intrusive thoughts and what to do about it.
Today’s conversation is for anyone who battles and deals with intrusive thoughts. Intrusive thoughts are anything that makes you think you have something to fear, you’re less than, makes you shut down or run away, or stops you dead in your tracks. It’s the thoughts that seem to run over and over in our minds or interrupt us in the middle of our day.
You do not have to believe every thought that you have! If you do believe every thought that you have, you will probably live very anxious and depressed. Thoughts come and go. Sometimes it’s not worth giving a thought much time of day.
You have power over your thoughts. Your thoughts are not supposed to be dominating you. There are many times we think certain ways due to our past life experiences.
Thoughts are helpful stepping stones—they can give you a window into your past. You need to know some of the thoughts you regularly think in order to move forward. If we have unresolved complex trauma from childhood or past experiences that we have not yet been able to look at and heal from, then it will interrupt and disrupt us in our present day. Sometimes to a very severe degree.
Kids deserve respect, attention, and care. They should not be considered less than simply because they are smaller, younger, or the adult thinks that they know more than the child.
It’s very easy to translate our experiences into these beliefs that fuel the way we look at life. They affect our perspective on life and our interpretations of people’s actions.
