EPISODE NOTES:
- Today’s episode is about conflict resolution, communication, and feeling rejection in relationships.
- Communication is KEY to healthy relationships.
- You can’t make someone else communicate, but you can choose to communicate.
- If another person does not want to talk with you, you can write them a letter and either send it or don’t send it. Writing it down helps you process and resolve what’s going on.
- Avoid a text conversation unless there is NO OTHER WAY of communicating.
- Sit and think before you have a difficult conversation. Think about what you really feel, why you feel it, and what their action stirs up in you. Is it really THEIR actions or is it your stuff coming up?
- You can choose to not drag their name through the mud and to not hold on to bitterness.
- Our responsibility in relationships is to be the beautiful person we were created to be.
- Being angry is normal and fine! But what are you going to do with your anger? Hurt someone? That doesn’t get you anywhere good.
- Usually having a difficult conversation with someone ends up making the relationship closer and deeper. If that is not the case, do not beat yourself up over it.
- Don’t diminish how the other person feels.
- You get to choose how you think about the other person.
- Find a safe person to talk through the situation with.
- Are you feeling rejected? Or were your actions rejected? They’re two different things.
- Just because someone rejects what you did, does not mean they are rejecting you!
- Let yourself think, why do I feel this way when someone is rejecting me?
