Technically, I've been "in recovery" from my eating disorder for about 2 1/2 years at this point.
We always hear that phrase, "in recovery." Maybe you've heard it in reference to ex-alcoholics, no matter how long they've been sober. Or maybe ex-addicts, even though they have been drug free for decades. Both medical & mental health professionals alike have come to this consensus- you will always be in recovery, not recovered, no matter how long ago your last relapse was.
I am here to say why this is not true & why & how full recovery is possible. While that definition may vary from person to person, the idea still exists. Whether you have anxiety, depression, a form of addiction, or any other demon in your life, you are able to rid yourself of them for good. Being "in recovery" does not have to be your destiny.
