In this first episode I want to lay the groundwork by talking openly and honestly about my experiences.

I  begin by introducing the Vision & Graft podcast and the reasons behind why I decided to make a podcast about creative career hurdles, mental health challenges and personal life mayhem.

I go on to discuss the biggest hurdle in my life so far - battling depression for the past two years whilst working as a freelance cinematographer & photographer. I talk openly and honestly about my personal experience of depression and the rollercoaster ride it has taken me on personally and professionally.

I finally move on to discuss a selection of tips and techniques I have picked up and developed along the way to help manage my depression and I highlight the importance of reaching out to others. That is both reaching out to your friends and family to check that they are okay and reaching out to those around you when you are in need of someone to talk to.

We are never alone in the struggles we face.

Vision & Graft aims to inspire action, give hope and normalise the discussion of mental health issues within creative sectors as well as more widely throughout society.
