Chinuch is sometimes translated as education or discipline, but neither do justice to the term; however how to be a mechanech requires education and discipline - on the part of the parents! Chinuch really means inauguration - and when we are blessed with a child we are given the ability to prepare him or her for their future role as members of Klal Yisrael. Possibly the most lasting legacy one can create is forging the future link to continue the seamless chain of Klal Yisrael.
