During his trip to the ER after a serious stroke, Dr. Kent surprised a neurologist when he started asking self diagnostic questions. The neurologist said, "I didn't know that chiropractors studied the nervous system!" His medical caregivers said he would be in a wheelchair and likely incontinent for the rest of his life, but that's not how things turned out.

Christopher Kent, D.C., J.D. is a Professor and Director for Scholarly Activity at Sherman College of Chiropractic. He is president of the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation. Dr. Kent was named a Fellow of the College of Chiropractic Imaging, and completed visiting fellowship programs in magnetic resonance imaging. He is an active member of the State Bar of California and is admitted as an attorney of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California. His research interests include diagnostic imaging and neurological assessments associated with vertebral subluxation. Chosen as International Chiropractors Association (ICA) "Chiropractic Researcher of the Year" in 1991 and selected ICA "Chiropractor of the Year" in 1998, he received the Larry Webster Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in pediatric chiropractic in 2000 and Life University’s first Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. He is former chair of the United Nations NGO Health Committee, the first chiropractor elected to that position.
