The other week I wrote about the close sheriff’s election in Conecuh County. A recount was done and I thought that was that and the incumbent sheriff was declared re-elected by two votes. But in politics, “that is that” happens rarely. Sheriff Randy Brock, a Democrat, led Republican Mike Blackmon by just one vote after the Nov. 8 General Election — 2,224 to 2,223. The next week six provisional votes were opened as required by law. Three of the six were discarded because the individuals were not registered voters in Conecuh County.
