Three murder cases were originally on the docket for next week’s criminal jury term of Clarke County Circuit Court but one case was settled Monday and the defendant sentenced and another case was continued until June. Joseph Lamar Thornton pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced to 25 years by Judge C. Robert Montgomery, the sentence to begin immediately. Thompson, known as “Moo Moo,” was charged with shooting Ronald Oliver Bryant in the head with a 12-guage pump shotgun Sept. 16, 2016 after the two argued at a residence on Fool’s Acre Road in the Gainestown area.
