It was 46 years ago this past spring that I nervously walked into The South Alabamian office in Jackson one Saturday morning to interview for a summer college internship. That interview and my subsequent hiring turned into a lifetime career of weekly newspaper publishing. It has all run by in a whirl of writing news and feature stories, selling advertising, promoting organizations and area communities, all while meeting deadlines to “get the paper out.” It has been hectic and stressful at times but, oh, so much fun, too! You learn a lot about a lot of things in this business....
