Representatives from the Selma Housing Authority (SHA) spoke before the Clarke County Commission at the May 14 meeting. They spoke about bringing the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program into Clarke County. The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is the federal government’s major program for assisting low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. Applications for the program opened on May 3 and will be accepted through June 3.
