The old house made a grand fire Friday, Aug. 26. The old Church Pews office, originally the McGwier home, was burned by the Grove Hill Fire/Rescue Department at the request of owner George Jones. The house had deteriorated greatly in recent years. I won’t say personal memories went up in smoke because good memories can’t be burned. I have fond memories of the house when Lois McGwier lived there.
