When we read about offering ourselves as a -living sacrifice- in Romans 12-1-2, it means that God wants a total commitment of our lives to HIm. That kind of sacrifice always requires loss. Considering what Jesus offered for us and the benefits that we gain through His sacrifice, this total commitment from us to God is a reasonable request for God to make, no matter what it costs us.
