Fasting is not something that is talked about nor practiced much in modern Christianity, yet it is something that Christians should be practicing. When Jesus addressed fasting in Matthew 6, He said, -When you fast...-, not -If you fast,- indicating that it was something that He expected us to do. While there is not abundant teaching in the Bible about Biblical fasting, there are enough examples given for us to understand the WHY and the HOW. Fundamentally, it boils down to admitting our absolute dependence on God and then replacing physical sustenance with a diligent seeking of God in prayer.
