In order to create a relationship between us, which is called the spiritual world, we need support. Therefore, Kabbalists say that since one person alone is insufficient in the entire scope of the universe, 600,000 souls were created, i.e., the main vessel (Kli) in a shattered state.

Subsequently, this main vessel further divided into millions, even billions of particles.

As egoism manifests more and more, the number of these particles increases so that each one, like an individual atom, can correct itself and connect with other particles based on correction, on the basis of the qualities of bestowal.

Initially, these particles were connected to each other by the Creator’s force in the quality of His bestowal. Then this quality of the Creator disappeared, ascended. Now, we must begin to once again attract the upper light into the connections between us so that it reassembles us into the structure called “Adam.”

Thus, as stated in Baal HaSulam’s Letter 4: You lack nothing but to go out to a field that the Lord has blessed, and collect all those flaccid organs that have drooped from your soul, and join them into a single body – into a single desire. This is what we must engage in. This is our only task. We should have nothing else before our eyes.

In this world, I act automatically: I work, take care of my body, my family, and everything else. But why do I do all this while living as if in a dream? It is in order to connect with other souls and reveal the Creator to the extent of our connection. The Creator manifests as the light that connects the separate shattered parts.

If this is so, then it is natural that the Kabbalists, who began to attain these states individually, immediately realized that this must be done together, formed a group in which people mutually help each other and create such combinations of desires and aspirations that helps their connection.
