Question: I am suffering more and more from my faults, but this is how the concealed light affects me. How can we feel the suffering from the absence of the light of the Torah if we do not know what it is?
Answer: It does not matter whether you studied the Torah or not. Your desire to get closer to the Creator is felt as a deficiency for the revelation of the Creator. Therefore, even if you have not studied anything, the desire for this is still the most important thing.
Question: We often hear that we must proceed with faith above reason. It is written: “He can believe above reason that he does not understand. Nevertheless, above reason we do not feel the lack.” What is this state “above reason”? We do not feel lack there.
Answer: Ordinary faith is philistine faith. We must try to enter the state of faith above reason. Let’s say that now you read something and decided that you will definitely follow some rule that is written in the text.
It does not matter how much you understand it or not, whether you like it or not, but you accept it upon yourself, and this means that in relation to this position you are in faith above reason, which obliges you to move forward even if you do not know, do not see, and do not feel what you read.
Question: But if some understanding has come to a person and he does not feel the lack anymore, how does this work?
Answer: You will feel it.
