Some key points about “pain” experiences:

  • Pain isn't always BAD
  • It tells us to pay attention to the area that is experiencing this "painful" stimulus
  • Pain is a protective mechanism that will warn us about potential “danger ahead"

Now, some key points about experiencing “discomfort”:

  • Discomfort is often described as uncomfortable positions or movements that can still be achieved but with difficultly or uneasiness
  • It helps us recognize that it’s ok to perform this movement pattern yet helps us progress or regress onto the next level of movement progression
  • Think of this more of muscle tiredness/straining
