It easily visualizes the tax savings an accountant can produce for a client, tends to triple the fees an accountant can charge, and transforms mundane busy work into passion and purpose. As a practitioner, Jackie tripled her firm's revenue with this method and began her speaking and teaching career around it as accountants realized how much, more than just money, The ROI Method(tm) can impact their (and their clients') lives for the better.

Operating an effective and profitable practice requires communicating with clients and others - and that in-turn requires scheduling. Yet many professionals treat scheduling as an after-thought instead of using it as a strategic advantage for their practices. With even a moderate sized firm doing 300-400 returns annually with existing and new clients, a better scheduling process can increase how many clients you can service and make every day easier.

Accounting shortages are impacting the financial industry for every accounting firm, regardless of size. This is causing Senior Accounting partners to do the jobs of entry-level employees. If firms are lucky enough to find the talent, they need for all their job position levels, they see high turnover rates because their employees are being headhunted for more money daily. As the saying goes, good firms attract good talent. The good news is that there are legions of talent available, but firms must be willing to change how they work. Modern technology lets our clients and team members come from anywhere worldwide. By changing how we work, we can find the right talent at the right level at the right time to complete our tasks as efficiently as possible by building a global hybrid team. Some firms specialize in helping small firms build effective global teams. Navigating the talent shortage is not something small firms need to do alone. Join Randy Johnston and Nick Sinclair, founder of TOA Global, as they discuss how staffing shortages impact the financial sector, how to attract and retain talent, and what attributes of a talent team provider you should look for when trying to build a global team.

When small businesses first start, they may need just one tool, such as Time and Billing. As their company grows, they must manage many other tasks. Small business owners must shift their focus from just time and billing to the entirety of practice management. This can feel incredibly overwhelming. Small business owners need to focus on three needs: Time and Billing, Workflow management, and Client CRM and analysis. No matter how large a business becomes, these needs are universal.
In today's session, we will be joining the founders of TPS to discuss why focussing on three primary areas: Time and billing, workflow management, and client CRM and analysis, are core areas to every business. We will also discuss how TPS has grown from being only a Time and Billing tool into the well-rounded practice management tool it is today.

PDFs (Portable Document Format) are the de facto standard for digital paper. They are used worldwide by virtually all platforms and systems as a method of conveying information. They can be used to transmit an invoice to a client, sign an agreement with a partner, or save a permanent copy of a financial statement. While being widespread, most financial professionals don’t know to leverage this format effectively. They lack the knowledge of how to create their documents, edit existing documents, or secure them for transmittal. Additionally, there are many new PDF capabilities such as forms, e-signature, cloud storage, and more which are underutilized by financial professionals.
The most common and powerful application for creating, editing, and managing PDF files is Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. This application can be leveraged in so many ways to create effective documents. This course will go through in deep detail the major features and functionalities of this application. It will demonstrate the various ways to create and edit documents. It shows utilizing the review and annotation functionalities such as stamps and comments. It will teach participants how to create forms and collect e-signatures. Additionally, it will present free and open-source alternatives to Acrobat DC to consider. This course is a must-watch for any financial professional that works with PDFs regularly.

Does your accounting firm offer initial free consultations? Before the meeting closes you share your fees. And the response you hear is “Can I get a discount?” The initial consult challenges many accounting professionals. That’s because your training prepared you to do the work, but not to master these first meetings. As a result, you end up enrolling a non-ideal client or under-charge for your firm’s services. Your initial consultations set the stage for everything else. It’s time to engage quality clients – without ever having to sell or justify your fees. Follow this proven formula which has premium clients ask how they can work with you. This approach draws in quality clients without having to pitch or sell your services. Give potential clients what they need to eagerly say “YES” on the spot.

No person or corporation wants to overpay in taxes. According to Govinfo.gov, the tax code was over 60,000 pages the last time it was printed in 2018. That leaves a lot of opportunities to find strategies to make sure that the taxpayer is not overpaying. These strategies are hidden inside those 60,000 pages and require planning to be able to implement them. Determining strategies, selecting which methods to use, and developing an implementation plan is part of tax planning. Tax planning, when done right, can save a taxpayer hundreds of thousands of dollars. The first problem is that no tax preparer has time to read through 60,000 pages and find every strategy that applies to their clients. The next issue is convincing the taxpayer that putting in the extra time and resources to implement these strategies is worth the effort.
In this course, Randy Johnston will be taking you through a hands-on tour of Corvee so you can see how Corvee can help you increase your tax or accounting firm's bottom line while also increasing value for your clients. Power Query and Power BI are genuinely incredible tools to revolutionize your workflow. They offer the promise of "write once, refresh many" reporting where your reports can be instantly updated in real-time with the click of a button. These tools can be hooked directly to your company's databases, accounting applications, enterprise resource planning solutions, etc. Once the connection is established, they can dynamically retrieve anything from the database and populate your reports. While incredible tools, these features require additional training and experience to master. This course series will review the different methods of connecting to your data and have multiple hands-on activities to help you master these incredible tools.
CPE Today has a brand-new learning tool to help you learn how to use Power Query and Power BI. Small businesses have so many moving parts. Business owners want to run their business, they don’t want to learn how to be accounts, logistics experts, and more. For small business owners, ERP solutions are too big and too expensive for most of their needs. However, many of them quickly outgrow the basic accounting solutions that only offer a general ledger, reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable modules. These small business needs often fall through the cracks of entry-level accounting solutions and ERP solutions.
There is a new sector of the accounting software market developing. These new applications handle the Process and Resource Operation Planning (PROP) for a business. These PROP products bridge the gap for small businesses between entry-level solutions and ERP solutions. One of the outstanding tools in this new sector is Accounting Suite. Accounting Suite not only offers general ledger, reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable modules, it also offers inventory, costing, and eCommerce modules. Accounting Suite has developed a one-stop-shop for any of your small business clients’ needs. They even offer customization of their tool for any of their clients. They have not forgotten their accounting stakeholders. They also built an amazingly efficient write-up feature to help you balance your client's accounts faster than ever before.
Join Randy Johnston and Kurt Kunselman, COO and Product Architect of Accounting Suite, to discuss the new emerging need for PROP solutions and how Accounting Suite has helped meet this need.

Reporting is often the last part of accounting or business projects. Unfortunately, most businesses overlook the complexity of their reporting needs and underestimate their requirements. This causes an issue when it comes time to pull a sales report or calculate taxes. Accountants are often stringing together multiple spreadsheets to back into the information they need. This results in frustration from manual procedures, clerical errors in preparation, and poor efficiency in the office. myDBR can resolve all these problems and provide outstanding reporting right out of the box!
myDBR turns data from MySQL, MariaDB, Microsoft SQL Server, and Sybase databases into usable actionable information. Today’s world runs on databases and is an integral component of every application, platform, and service. There isn’t a single business technology that is not utilizing a database in a meaningful way. Reporting tools like Power BI depend on a database to create beautiful and insightful dashboards. Our accounting systems such as Quickbooks or Xero use a database to store information about our financial records. Our customer tools such as Salesforce or Hubspot use a database to store information about our sales efforts. There are even new features and functions of Excel which depend on utilizing a database. As widespread and important as this technology is most financial professionals lack a basic understanding of how databases operate. Traditionally, working with databases has been “out of scope” of the accounting team and relegated to an organization’s IT department. However, in today’s technology environment, accountants must have at least a basic understanding of how databases operate and the ability to query data on their own. This will empower them to write their reports, design their dashboards and work with Cloud data more effectively. This course will go through databases basics, focusing on the knowledge that would be most helpful for a financial professional. The goal is to give the professional enough hands-on knowledge to be able to query data from a database or cloud provider to create their reports in Excel or Power BI.

Unlike mainstream technologies in use in businesses every day, there are upcoming technologies which have the potential to drastically change how we work, live, and play in the years ahead. New and upcoming technologies such as blockchain, cryptocurrency, big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning all offer great potential, just as the advent of the personal computer did some four decades ago. This session will cover an assortment of technologies which are nearing mainstream adoption and help you understand what they do, how they work, as well as some of the potential risks and rewards they offer potential users, particularly in business environments.
In this course, you will learn the basics of blockchain, cryptocurrency, big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. You will also learn about the anticipated uses, benefits, risks, and threats posed to legacy businesses by these innovative, yet disruptive platforms. Now is the time to prepare for the future by learning about these technologies and how they will impact and potentially disrupt current business practices.
This course is going to focus on the technology and real-world applications of blockchain, cryptocurrency, big data, and artificial intelligence. It will not discuss the tax, legal, or ethical impact of these technologies. This course is ideal for financial professionals that are looking to build working knowledge on these topics and find useful ways of applying them to their organizations.

Disaster can come in many forms, from a flood to a data breach, to the death of a critical member of your team. When a disaster happens, it is never at a convenient time. It doesn't matter if it is holidays, right before your vacation, or at the end of a grueling busy season. It just happens and you're left to pick up the pieces. It offers insight into the major risks, their causes, methods for mitigation of risks, and recommendations for resolution. It will have a detailed discussion on how using technology effectively can help minimize and hedge business risk and ensure continuity of operations. It will examine best practices for data security, the use of hot/cold sites, how to ensure that data is properly backed up, utilizing the Cloud for enhanced redundancy, and more. For example, Excel does not have functions to calculate income tax expense or, in many cases, depreciation expense. To solve these shortcomings, you can create User Defined Functions (UDFs). UDFs provide you with the opportunity to create functions for use in any of your formulas and automate your most complex calculations. Join us to learn how to put the power of UDFs to work to simplify and automate even your most complex calculations.

To efficiently manage, analyze, and reporting Excel, you need more than traditional ranges of data – you need tables and data models! Two of Excel’s best features about which most users know very little, tables and data models allow you to process large volumes of data into dynamic reports and analytical elements with unsurpassed ease, accuracy, and speed.
Far more than just a formatting tool, tables should revolutionize how you work with data in Excel, including serving as dynamically resizing ranges of data, providing a simplified means of writing formulas, and facilitating quick and easy sorting of large volumes of data. Couple tables with data models – a means of joining, or relating, two or more tables together – and you have the recipe for unparalleled efficiency when managing, analyzing, and reporting with Excel, even if your source data lies in other data sources! You do not want to miss this chance to learn how to harness the power of these tools by participating in this program!
In this episode we take a detailed look at sorting and filtering data effectively using tables. We'll examine just about every way possible to slice and dice your data!

With approximately 500 functions already present, Excel seemingly has a function for every need. But sometimes the function YOU need just simply isn’t available.

The first 24 hours of a disaster are the most critical. How are you going to get back online? How are you going to organize a safe work environment for your staff? How are you going to communicate what has occurred and what you are doing to resolve it to your stakeholders? An organization that is without its data or communications for a prolonged period has a significant risk of going out of business. Every minute of downtime is lost productivity, a missed deadline, or a forfeited opportunity. It isn't a matter of if a disaster occurs, but when it does occur how you will respond.
This course will discuss a wide range of disasters from acts of God to man-made calamities, including data breaches and employee maleficence. It is a good course for any organization that is concerned about the continuity of operations and surviving a disaster.
