Does your ex care?
Experience has taught me that this question does not help you in the long run. It is probably one of those questions that you need to refrsme. Does he miss me? Why does he move on so fast?
People move on, not because they are ignoring the fact you had a relationship. They move on because life goes on. Because people are on loan. Because we all have our priorities, and an ended relationship is just that - ended, and therefore no longer a priority.
It does not mean they do not think about you. It just means you are no longer on the top of the list where you were before. It also means you need to do the same, because that is helpful for you.
The idea is to learn acceptance. A break up is a container that requires addressing. Try to create the space to let it unfold in order to process the grief to allow yourself to move forward without owing anything in the past.
Seek help to heal your emotions. Learn to sit with your triggers and SIFTSEM. Start to invest in yourself. Invest in your interests. Do the things you were unable to do in your relationship. Love on three levels. Give yourself the love you are looking for in them. Grieve and move forward. There is a life to be lived, places to be visited, people to see and foods to be sampled.
Why do people struggle? Because they do not have tools to grieve in a healthy way. To grive and practice acceptance of the choices of others.
To balance grief with appreciation for what they still have. The one thing we take for granted, that they are still alive despite this temporary loss. That they are still here. To live another day. To love another minute or another person one day. That it is possible.
Besides, we have been misled to think that romance is the be-all and end-all of love. That we need to be with someone forever to be happy.
Or the love you want to give them. Look for other relationships in friends and family, and the greater good to invest in.
Sit with your emotions and ask yourself what you are feeling and why. SIFTSEM and Journal.
It is reasonable to miss someone, but at some point we need to acknowledge that our abandonment wounds from the past might be coming to haunt us.
It is time to let go. Heal the past. To accept the choice of the ex. To choose yourself and not abandon yourself in chasing them.. To start believing that your worthiness is not attached to this person or to a romantic relationship.
Heal for your quality of life.
