ABBA FATHER. We cry out to you.
Can you hear us?
Have you ever asked God this question before? “God, are you there?? It is getting pretty weird talking to myself over here.”
^ Welcome to my prayer life. LOL
But walking with God can get messy, especially when we lack the depth of understanding that comes from knowing his true heart. God’s character is scattered throughout the Bible, it acts as a treasure hunt of goodness waiting to be revealed. When you search him out, he reveals deeper truths. Often, we are not willing to look for the depth of him and we wonder where he is. Walking with God is a daily pursuit, meant to strengthen our faith with each new day. But what happens when we lose faith? When we experience hope-deffered? When our knees, hands, and feet grow weary?
Provers 13:12 tells us, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.”
I have experienced this deep aching in my heart for a long time, when the Lord called me back, I was already in a pretty hopeless place. I had looked for the world to fulfill me for so long and found only faith the size of a mustard seed. I faced grief, shame, pain, and a giant taste of humility as I realized how I had made choices that had me turning my back on God.
I had let the voices of the world tell me who to be, and what to do, and I want to challenge you today with this question. Whose voice are you listening to?
I pray this episode gives you a glimpse into the power of HIS faithfulness when we grow weary, turn our back, and hurt his heart….his faithfulness is always there for us, because of his character. When we know this about him, it makes relying on the truth of scripture that much easier in moments of weak faith. He is a good, good father and he waits patiently for his children to come home.
