Join Corey and I this week as we reflect on how both of us deeply resonate with being “the prodigal son” and how this story has revealed a depth to God’s character that focuses on redemption.

As we reflect on the last year, we can see clearly that God has been building a more solidified foundation for us to stand on.

In our idenity, our marriage, our family, in community, in a local church, in our finances, in the way that we show up to the world, and he is so gracious and patient with us.

The story of the prodigal son is such a testament to the Father’s goodness. When the son returns, he is met with joy and open arms. The Father clothes him, puts on a feast, hosts a party, he sings and tells his community that his Son has returned!

This is the way that God welcomes us back to the Kingdom!

Paul writes to Titus about this in Titus 3:4,

“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”

There is nothing that we can do to earn it, he saved us because of his good mercy. We pray this episode be a reminder of the depth of which our Father will go to call his children home.
