Today while I was on my run, I heard myself speaking encouragement over my spirit that sounded a lot like mantras from my days wrapped up in the new age and wellness space.
The mantras I was using (back then) were a band-aid to the hurt but they weren’t healing the wound because I wasn’t aware of the wound.
Today, the difference was that they carried a tangible weight to them because the words were prompted by the Holy Spirit. They weren’t empty, they carried a medicine, a healing for my spirit and soul because they carried the truth of scripture and the truth of who God says that I am.
I know what Jesus says about me. He calls me who I am. So after a long season of learning to deny the self while learning who HE was, I heard the truth of scripture in a way that truly brought healing balm to my wounding, something I was DESPERATE for.
A familiar mantra might sound like, “I am strong”
But when we pair that with the truth of scripture, “Where I am weak, he is strong” I don’t need to be strong, I need to know who He is.
The new age wants you to focus on yourself, God wants us to focus on Him. He fills in the gap.
I pray that this episode bring you clarity on the lie and need that lives underneath the mantra.
