How do we recover a holy fear (reverence) of God without falling back into legalism? We must have a revelation of God’s awesome holiness. Not simply an intellectual appreciation for the doctrine of His holiness, but an encounter with the One who is altogether holy beyond anything we can imagine. An encounter like the one Isaiah had when he entered the temple following King Uzziah’s death. He saw the

“… Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple… Angelic beings were crying, “‘Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty …’”

— Isaiah 6:1, 3-4

Lord God almighty, show us Your holiness that we may worship and fear You. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
