For the most part the strict legalistic culture in which I was reared no longer exists. Being free from the constant condemnation is a good thing, but in the process, it appears we have lost our fear (reverence) of God. Many postmodern believers have little or no sense of sin. Everyone does what is right in his or her own eyes without fear of the consequences. So where do we go from here? How do we recover a holy fear (reverence) of God without falling back into legalism?

“Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”

— Ecclesiastes 12:13 (ESV)

Lord Jesus, give us a revelation of Your holiness that we might fear (reverence) You as we should. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
