Cummings (retired) joined the show to talk about being instrumental as a driving force behind the formal recognition of the 6888th’s accomplishments and service via the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal. Bill S.633 (H.R. 1012), submitted to the U.S. Senate in Feb 2021 by U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) and is currently with the U.S. House of Representatives Financial Services Committee.Janice Martin (RN, retired), daughter of Indiana Hunt Martin of the 6888th, joined the show to talk about her mother’s service.And, being Women’s History Month, we talked about the forgotten history of black American women’s service in the U.S. military.
