In this episode of Core Conversations, hosts Cortlyn Raynes and Haley Hasty, second year DPT students, join guest Sydnée Jacques, M.Ed. for a discussion on black athlete identity and racism in sports. Sydnée is a former collegiate track and field athlete from Temple University, where she received her BA in Psychology and a Masters of Education in Counseling. She currently works as a learning specialist at Temple University, integrating her passion for helping student athletes navigate challenges on the field and inside the classroom. Listen in as they discuss the latest in the 2021 Olympic trials, navigating injuries and setbacks facing student athletes, and how educators and physical therapists can go the extra mile to make connections with their athletes and patients. As always, Cortlyn, Haley, and Sydnée wrap up the episode by reflecting on what’s good in life.
