To wrap up this season, I, Elise Taylor, guided a conversation with other members of SGOF's Liberation on FYER Program around liberation, particularly in the context of what it means to us - as young, black women - and how we get there individually and collectively, with special advice from our CEO and Founder, Jacquee Porter. Our topic today is called "Release" because there is a certain kind of release or exhale that happens through liberation. We will also reflect upon our previous podcast episodes and how the terms; peace, equality, empowerment, justice and fairness contribute to being liberated within oneself. By no means does this final episode conclude the conversation - there is still plenty of work to be done within ourselves and our community. Some may ask why we are raising our voices for justice and fairness among girls of color, and the answer is, "we MUSTdo it. Through our Let Black Girls Live Documentary and Podcast series; we hope that we have been able to bring awareness to the injust of the police brutality on the women in our documentary and have began the work that needs to be done to start changing our narratives to a message of liberation for girls of color.
