This is part 2 of me reacting to Jeff Bezos’s last shareholder letter

I decided to do a reaction episode, because 1. Jeff Bezos is one of the greatest entrepreneurs of all time 2.His shareholder letters since his first one in 1997 have been extremely consistent, and 3. This will be his last shareholder letter as the CEO of Amazon.

The previous shareholder letter focused very much on the “numbers” side of things. This is Jeff Bezos’s “CEO scorecard” - not only it is expected in Wall Street, it’s a pretty good way to communicate and objectify what was done during his tenure as CEO of Amazon. Here are my key takeaways:

• Amazon’s stock price in 1997, split-adjusted, was $1.50. Since then, it has increased to $3372 at the time of this recording - about 2250 times.
• Huge returns helped shareholders to pay off debt, pay for college, buy a house, a car, or used for emergency purposes.
• Amazon created $126 billion in value per year for its 200 million Prime members by saving them time from going to the grocery store.
• Combining all the figures in 2020 alone, Amazon created 21B for its shareholders, 92B for its employees, 25B for its 3P sellers, and 164B for its customers. The total figure is 301B.
