In this Fueling Creativity in Education podcast episode, Dr. Cyndi Burnett and Dr. Matthew Worwood welcome fourth-grade elementary school teacher Lisa Saunders to the show. Lisa talks about her experience in Teacher Innovation Studio, a new Connecticut-based program that teaches teachers how to apply Design Thinking principles to boost their creativity in the classroom using new technology.

As educators we are so stuck in what we should, that we don't realize that being creative is really teaching.

Lisa's Tips for Teachers and Parents:

  1. Just go for it. You have to try something new, and if it fails, its ok.
  2. Know that you are creative. We are creative human beings and we have to know that as educators we are creative.
  3. To trust yourself. We too often get hung up on the negativity and the things we aren't doing, but we should focus on the positive things, because we are doing so many good things.
