I’ve wanted to be a lot of things in my life: a teacher, an actor, a cinematographer, and heck, even a sign language interpreter. I didn’t want to be president or anything like that because who would want that insane job. Suffice it to say, though, I wanted to do creative work and I wanted to be well known for it.

That’s been a hell of a thing to get over, let me tell you. Why in the world do we convince our most impressionable people that you’re only worth something if you’re famous? Why aren’t we spending more time and effort telling people that they’re going to be amazing even if they’re not famous? Heck, especially if they’re not famous! Being “just okay” is underrated.
