“LORD, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished you have done for us.” Isaiah 26:12 (NIV)
Doesn’t that sound rather strange? “all that we have accomplished you have done for us”?
If someone approached you after a hard day’s work of sweat and even tears in getting a job done and said, “All that you’ve accomplished today, I actually did for you.” It would be shocking if not offensive. What on earth can they mean by that? you would think.
But, surprisingly and mysteriously, that’s precisely the way it is with God: all that we do that’s of any value, he does for us. Think of this:
And listen to Jesus:
Pride is always delusional and deceived and thinks, “I got this. I made this happen.”
Humility is always honest and truthful and says of every achievement and every blessing, “I was given this. God made this happen.”
