Legends of the NFL hailed Washington as one of the greatest players in football history. He was also a baseball star and there were efforts to make Washington the first black player in major league baseball along with Jackie Robinson. Discussion on the abuse Washington has to deal with, his refusal to play in the South, and how he impacted ignorant teammates through his character and talent. Kenny Washington was one of, if not the most popular athletes in Los Angeles throughout the '30s and '40s. The Rams and the NFL should do more to recognize Washington's role in professional football.
