The tree’s up, the presents are wrapped, and everyone is getting ready for the big day. But for sober people Christmas can ‘throw up’ a few unexpected cravings and some very uncomfortable conversations. Being the one person that’s breaking tradition, and not downing Bucks Fizz for breakfast, can be a challenge. But, Lucy and Vic were astonished to find they both enjoy a sober Christmas much more than a hammered one. They get to absorb the good, ignore the bad and leave when they’ve had enough. So, how do you make it through this annual drinking marathon sober? And is it ok to say no? On this episode they will share lots of tips and tricks on how to get through this momentous day with nothing but a gaudy jumper and a few firm boundaries. They’ll teach you how to be sober punks and break the traditions ingrained since childhood, oh, and they will also talk a lot about the importance of pudding. A funny and festive episode.

The Sober Christmas Elf
Imagine this Christmas that you have friendly elf
Who’s there to help you be your sober Christmas self
He will sit on your shoulder whispering words of support
and talk you out of opening Nan’s bottle of port.
The elf will be on hand to listen when your craving,
And he’ll distract you with chocolate if you feel like misbehaving
He will go to the kitchen and switch on the kettle
And quietly sit with you… until your sober nerves settle
The pointy eared chap will guide you and help you feel strong
He’ll hold your hand when you feel awkward like you don’t belong
He’ll represent you, be your own personal attorney
And tell people to fuck off that don’t respect your journey
With the elf’s help you’ll make it through Christmas day
the anxiety will pass, and your hangover will stay away.
You’ll be able to enjoy this festive time and have lots of fun,
Because guess what Lucy?
There’s a sober elf inside everyone!
