Lakewood, NJ – Beth Medrash Govoha has submitted plans to the Lakewood Planning Board seeking approval for the construction of six apartment buildings with 100 apartments in each on the 36-acre property it purchased from Georgian Court University this past March.

The property is located in an R-12 Zone, which permits only single family homes on lots no smaller than 12,000 square feet. However, Lakewood Township’s Planned Educational Campus ordinance allows for the construction of the buildings without requiring a variance, so long as they are built by BMG without outside investor participation and the apartments are rented exclusively to talmidim of the yeshiva.

Also included in the project is a separate structure intended to be used as a daycare center, as well as playgrounds in front of each of the six buildings.
