Scripture: Matthew 4:1-11, Jesus is tempted three times in Matthew 4, but the temptation remains the same in all of them. The temptation is to place one's trust in something other than Christ alone. So many of the things around us, money, power, skill, seem like worthy things to place faith in because we can sustain our own lives, no? Not in the least! Our very lives are a gift of God and the only reason we draw breath is by grace through faith alone. Christ is the only true foundation upon which we can stand. Even when the Devil seeks to take us, one simple word can fell him: Jesus.
