A member of artist collective, Dhamma, her sets are a patchwork of various sounds and musical styles, going as easily from balie funk to deconstructed club and left-field bass, often, if not always, imbued with punchy edits of Egyptian shaabi or rap bangers. It’s like everything, everywhere, all at once, constantly shifting, and chaotic in the best of ways.She has done her rounds at parties across the globe, including the UK, Spain, UAE, and played at Uganda’s iconic Nyege Nyege festival, and XP Music Futures in Saudi Arabia. Her sets have been aired on international radio stations, such as Stegi Radio and Echobox. Additionally, MARTINA has previously contributed an original track to ZULI’s Places: Egypt compilation on Air Texture, and co-produced records with electroneya for Barcelona-based Le Shapeshifters, along with composing music for the Egyptian comedy ‘The Gentlemen’.For our Select 378, she steps in with an open-format radio set that drifts away from her usual club selections to explore heavy, distorted, bass-driven music and abrasive noise, interspersed with flourishes of soothing ambient pads. Almo١٠٠ is an Emirati-born selector and an avid record digger who draws inspiration from the archives of the electronic scene in Glasgow and Sydney.His sets are known for being packed with rare finds and timeless dancefloor staples. and Select 375, he delivers an all-vinyl mix drawn straight from his personal archive, moving from deep New York house to wavy italo detours and classic U.S. garage edits, with no shortage of electrifying club moments. This week on SceneNoise’s select series, Matthew Benjamin, AKA Bushwacka! - one of the pioneers of the global electronic scene - will be taking over with a very special set.Bushwacka! was at the birth of the acid house era and sowed the seeds of the first wave of tech-house in the UK in the 90s. Initially a percussionist in the London School Symphony Orchestra, Bushwacka! became a member of the Rat Pack after a warehouse party in 1988. Bushwacka! was also part of one of the world’s most enduring DJ/producer duos with Layo. His career spans over three decades, during which he launched his legendary party series Shake It, which billed some of the biggest electronic acts on the scene like Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier and more. He also held several international club residencies, including Pikes and Amnesia in Ibiza, and did a handful of shows across the globe.With a new album and a 2025 world tour on the horizon, Bushwacka! treats us to a brilliant, loose-limbed, funky and percussive house workout (which also happens to be his first online mix in five years) featuring some of his most classic and rarest productions.

For our latest Select, we have Lebanese vinyl maverick, NeighborsByMusic. Her penchant for discovering new sounds has led her to build an extensive repertoire over the years, blending diverse music styles from different cultures. Her sets often incorporate influences from oriental, Brazilian funk, hip-hop and jazz. NeighborsByMusic treats us to a special vinyl-only set–initially recorded at JIVE in Beirut–that meshes together threads of Brazilian bossa nova, funk, and Arabic oldies from Simone and Hamid El Shaeri with 90s hip-hop and a hint of jazzy house here and there. The colossal proportions of the set, fitting together a multitude of different sounds, are somewhat reflective of the organised chaos that Lebanon is known for. Featuring a thoughtfully curated selection of feel-good tunes, such as Ezra Collective’s ‘Palm Wine’, Mtume’s ‘Juicy Fruit’, and Simone’s ‘Mabsouta’, the set ends abruptly, as if alluding to a typical electricity cut at midnight in Beirut.

His music has traversed dancefloors at some of the world’s biggest festivals, including Glastonbury, Coachella, and EDC Las Vegas.His select set is a hypnotic mix of melodic and afro tech-house grooves, featuring some of his own productions, along with a selection of his favourite tunes, such as ‘Oumuamua’ by Sauaro, ‘Eyes on Me’ by TMPLE and ‘Back 2 Me’ by Malachiii.
This Saturday, we have Cairo-based DJ Azzouni with a special mix that’s a little bit of everything from outside the club, packed with touchdowns in various sonic territories from Jamaica, Nubia, and Capo Verde, just to name a few. One of the most riotous DJs and producers in Cairo’s underground electronic scene, Azzouni is known for his signature genre-hyphenated experimental sets, mixing ambient, breakbeat, grime, jungle and deconstructed club sounds.Instead of a traditional mix, Azzouni dug deep into his sonic library to bring us more of a three-hour, 33-minute and 33-second playlist, chasing joy outside the club vibes. The playlist is inspired by a recent trip Azzouni made to a pristine natural beach in Wadi El Gemal protectorate, called Ras Hankorab (which is currently facing a threat of being turned into a luxury resort. The set is a patchwork of various sounds that skate across swaggering funk, dub reggae, blues, jazz, and everything in between, featuring a thoughtfully curated selection of eclectic tunes by the likes of Ali Farka Toure, Mad Professor and Sharaf Band. As Azzouni puts it, “Drop in at any timestamp, and stick around if you like the vibes.”
Joining us on this episode of our Select mix series is the one and only Cheb Runner. A musical hurricane rooted in Moroccan soil, Cheb Runner is a DJ, composer and producer who represents a new sound of in-betweenness, nurtured by a diverse array of musical influences that run back and forth in time. His sets often feature first-hand recordings from his expansive sample pack of traditional instrumentals. In addition to being a fixture at some of the biggest clubs and festivals across Europe, Cheb Runner is a resident at Ghana’s Oroko Radio, a familiar face at Brussels' finest Kiosk Radio, and part of Rotterdam’s (A)WAKE collective. Most recently, he has also joined the Brussels-based Not Your Techno family. For his select set, Cheb Runner delivers a playful analog mix, supported by a unique set of synthesisers, where traditional Maghrebi sounds and shaabi rhythms pulse through deep techno, disco and Dutch gabber.
Joining us this week on Select is Peter Al-Khabout, aka PAK, an emerging selector who has been recently making noise in the electronic music scene across Syria and Lebanon with his genre-blurring sets, packed with bold track selection and unexpected twists.For our Select the 330th, PAK takes us on a deep hypnotic journey of fresh grooves, heavy basslines, and dramatic, but also euphoric, buildups. His mix moves through lush house, relentless techno and atmospheric electronica. Think Dorisburg’s deep textures layered up with DJ Koze’s serpentine-like twists, and a dash of the driving energy of Ben Block. The set features a selection of eclectic tunes such as Shiffer’s ‘Magnum’, Aera’s ‘Running Hot’ and Luke Alessi’s ‘Walk On By’.
This week on Select, we have one of Cairo’s freshest young producers and selectors, Delrady, known for his innovative approach to tech-house, blending groovy house with classic funk, disco and blues, as well as hip-hop and rap. Since his emergence in the region’s electronic scene, Delrady has already released five EPs, such as ‘Big Big Dreams’ EP on Gawdat’s DancIN’ label, along with numerous singles and remixes, which have gained widespread recognition from leading DJs and producers across the globe. One of his tracks, ‘Keeping Working’, was played at Burning Man earlier last year. For his select set, he treats us to a taste of his infectious tech-house mixes, spinning in iconic rap tunes such as Central Cee’s ‘Doja’, and Drake & Lil Baby’s ‘Yes Indeed’, along with some of his original productions such as ‘Big Big Dreams’.
Back on our Select mix series for his annual takeover is the legendary Wookie warrior, Chewie. Known for digging up fresh, groove-heavy tracks, whether it’s sweat-soaked disco-house or heady minimal rhythms, Chewie is delivering an hour-long journey into the cosmos of house. This is a warped, high-energy set that would make Kessel Run look like a stroll in the park. Buckle up!
This week on SceneNoise’s Select series, we have the one and only DJ Habibeats. Born and raised in San Francisco’s Bay Area, DJ Habibeats is an internationally acclaimed artist who has been actively pushing Middle Eastern sounds in the global clubbing scene. He has built up a reputation for his culturally-charged electrifying sets, combining club sounds from the Middle East with afrobeats, amapiano, house, baile funk, and Brazilian and Latin influences. For his Select set, DJ Habibeats cooked us a culturally-charged house mix, featuring a kaleidoscope of musical influences from the Middle East and North Africa, India, and Brazil all wrapped up in deep club cuts. Expect some fun detours, and tunes like ‘Walhala’ - DJ Rony, ‘Merzzy’, ‘Gqom Do Pam Pam’ - Bronka, ‘State Off’, as well as some original productions by Habibeats himself.
Born and raised in Tangier, Yassir is one of the most exciting and versatile selectors in Morocco’s underground electronic scene. His sets mesh together sonic textures from jazz with pulsating house grooves, always featuring a fine selection of eclectic tunes from the likes of Cobblestone Jazz and Rhadoo. He has been dominating dancefloors at major clubs and festivals in Romania, UK and Morocco, and sharing the decks with global techno icons the likes of Traumer, Ricardo Villalobos, and Sonja Moonear, just to name a few. Yassir takes over our Select today with a trance-inducing mix of breakbeat, progressive house and techno, featuring tunes from some of his favourite record labels and producers like Kosh, Jeku, Olsvangèr, Rudolf C, and Sansibar.
This Saturday on SceneNoise’s Select, HALAWA - arguably one of the most promising selectors in Dubai - takes us on a colourful house journey that gradually builds in velocity from ambient to heavy rhythmic basslines. The set is packed with an eclectic track selection such as Calabasas’ ‘Bubble Trouble’, Delicious Inc’s ‘The Poem’, and Trik’s ‘Feel Good’.
Taking over our latest edition of Select is Bahrain-based DJ Sudz. Having initially begun his journey in the electronic music scene seven years ago spinning Jungle and Drum & Bass, Sudz has recently started dabbling more into the techno spectrum. He has quickly built a reputation in the region for his vigilant crate digging and multi-layered sets that traversed dancefloors in Dubai and Amman.His select set, which marks his comeback to the night life after a brief hiatus, encompasses sounds from his earliest influences, toeing with the peripheries between chill hypnotic melodies and dark ominous grooves –all wrapped in a relentless 4/4 drum pattern. The set features eclectic tunes by international artists such as ‘RB208’ by Oscar Mulero, ‘Forgotten Dunes’ by Funk Assault, and ‘Linear System’ by Kosher.

Omar Ezzo has built a reputation for himself in Cairo’s clubbing scene with his fresh take on afro-house. Up next on Select we host Sherif, an up-and-coming DJ from Cairo with a bouncy house mix that dabbles into the upbeat side of the spectrum. On this episode of Select, we have an eclectic b2b set from Tunisia’s budding selectors formiq and Belgaida, who are the co-founders of the mix series Unspoken Sessions –a platform that serves as an outlet for rising regional DJs to showcase their unspoken tastes beyond the packed dancefloor and club environment. Recorded at the 13th edition of the Tunisian electronic festival Fabrika, the set is an improvised ambient mix with sustained mellow synth notes that journey through different corners of the electronic spectrum, where genres blur into one cohesive sound that feels evermore cinematic and dreamy.
This week on Select, we have Brenda all the way from Colombia. Throughout the past three years, he has galloped through various sonic territories within the global electronic music scene, establishing himself as a figure that is hard to define and one of the most innovative DJs in the globe. In his selection and mixing style, Brenda embraces the idea of ‘plunder-techno’, a collage of traditional Latin rhythms, encompassing dembow, cumbia, djembe and guaracha, interspersed with variations of bass music, while incorporating noise textures close to IDM and club music.For his select set, the Colombia native DJ and producer brings a mix that encapsulates his passion for the multiplicity of latitudes within the global south and its diaspora. He meshes together threads of Mexican tribal, Colombian bailoteo and Andean techno with the emancipated UK bass scene across the globe, playing on the similarities between Latin dembow and the new waves of electronic music from the Middle East region. “It’s an x-ray of my interests, specifically, my fascination with traditional percussion and how they can be employed in electronic music.” Brenda tells SceneNoise.
In this episode of Select, we have the Dutch-Kurdish DJ/producer duo CHAMOS, who have built a cult following across Europe with their club edits, fusing traditional West Asian sounds with bass and house music. For our Select 316, CHAMOS is bringing a mix dedicated to their latest EP ‘From Erbil to Amsterdam’, a project that turns traditional Kurdish instrumentals into hard-hitting club anthems. The mix features their own edits of SWANA classics along with tunes by famous producers who inspired them and have been played in their club sets.
On our 315th Select, we have Egyptian-Kuwaiti DJ NAZ with an emotive mix of afrobeats and melodic house, titled ‘Broken Wings’. Speaking of the set, NAZ says, “This set was curated to not only help me process the loss of my twin flames but also to encourage listeners to tap into whatever it’s their soul is now going through, to hopefully bring closure to the adversity they endured.”
This week on SceneNoise’s Select series, we have a special set from Tunisian-Algerian selector and NTS resident Cheb Mimo, who has been actively pushing the traditional rhythms of North Africa - like Rai, Ganwa and Stembli - into the UK clubbing scene. His sets are a treasure trove of rare retro cassettes and vinyl records from the 80s, 90s and 2000s, a byproduct of his relentless digging through classic disco, funk and drum n bass.For Select 314, Cheb Mimo cooked up a chill groovy mix of downtempo and Rai music that bursts with uplifting melodies, featuring tunes by legendary artists like Cheb Hasni and Jean Baptiste.
This edition of our Select series comes courtesy of Beirut-based DJ, producer and percussionist Julian Naman, aka JOOL. Inspired by his parents’ extensive music collection, he started producing tracks at the early age of 14, merging various sounds, from jazz, hip-hop and ambient, to progressive rock, techno and house. He has performed alongside a slew of prominent international artists, including Dasha Rush, Ion Ludwig and Answer Code Request, traversing prestigious dancefloors at B018, Ballroom Blitz, Paris’ Sputnik and Athens’ The Place.Speaking of his Select set, JOOL says, “This set was born out of the challenging times we face in the region, where stress and uncertainty feel overwhelming. For the second episode of the new season of SceneNoise’s long-running stream series, Houseplant, Yousser treats us to a spin-off on the sound he previously embraced with a heart-pumping mix of 90s electro, house and breaks that demonstrates his refined crate-digging style. This exclusive release offers an early glimpse into the sonic landscape of the performance, blending live electronics, cello, voice, and toys to explore the paradox between grief and celebration.‘The Partridge Bird’ embodies the thematic essence of ‘Opera for 1000 Crows’, drawing inspiration from a traditional funeral dance ritual in Upper Egypt and Delta villages. This limping movement, performed by women around graves, mirrors the motion of crows, creatures deeply tied to burial myths in Islamic traditions. The track encapsulates this duality, transforming it into a haunting, funeralistic soundscape that bridges life and death.Following the track premiere, ‘Opera for 1000 Crows’ will make its full debut on February 13 at the French Institute in Cairo, marking YUNIS’ first performance of the project in Egypt after extensive touring in Europe. Select 308 comes courtesy of K.led, a DJ, musician and engineer with over 13 years of experience, with notable performances at venues like Montreal's Salon Daome and Soundstorm in Riyadh. K.led’s eclectic and genre-fluid approach to sound began in local underground clubs, where his ear for rhythm and evolving style led him to shape diverse sets that speak to a broad spectrum of listeners.This three-hour set was recorded during a recent performance at Beast House, K.led blends a mix of deep grooves and pulsating beats with moments of rough, gritty energy. The set transitions between diverse sounds with tracks like Terry Hunter & Aaron Smith's ‘Enuff Enuff’ (feat. Frankie Knuckles) and Shonky's ‘Mama Queen’ combining elegance with a bit of rawness.
Select 307 comes courtesy of Ghent-based Syrian/Libyan producer and DJ Bader Shahit, known behind the decks as Bader. Growing up immersed in Libyan tagaza majrouda rhythms and Syrian classical music, Bader has built himself a distinctive musical identity, merging contemporary club music of heavy bass patterns with various musical elements from across the MENA region. His select set, recorded in Yalla Worldwide studio in Ghent, is a bass-heavy mix of acid, breaks, techno, electric boogies and Middle Eastern textures, featuring Mix Monster Menno on the scratch and Acid Ponch on drums. The set also features hard-hitting tunes like El Sawarikh’s ‘Ekhwaty’ and Cheb Naser’s ‘Ole Ole’.
This week on our Select series, we have Cairo’s indie rock rouser Dirty Backseat, the electronic solo project of producer and singer-songwriter Moe Hani, with an exclusive mix of a string of unreleased productions that he recorded back in 2024. The set opens with an ethereal drone noise that seems to drift aimlessly through space, which then dissolves into pulse-pounding bass-driven beats with subtle frequency modulations and granular textures, embodying the chaos and order of the universe. The set features bumping tunes by a slew of international producers the likes of Deemphasis, Koova, Logitech and more.
This week on Select, we have France-based Moroccan DJ, producer and Radio Flouka resident Leïla Koumiya with a stormy left-field bass set, mixing syncopated Amazigh rhythms and elements of dnb with chopped rap samples from the likes of Julmud and Caïn و Muchi.Koumiya has cemented herself in the regional underground scene with her hybrid and versatile sets, exploring the nuances of her North African roots through a poetic blend of traditional sounds, polyrhythms, rap influences and percussive bass music.

Rooted in a deep meditative groove, the set explores the different ranges of bass, featuring hypnotic rhythms and a dub edit of Anunaku & DJ Plead’s ‘Clap Clap’, as a personal nod to her Syrian roots.
In this episode of Select, we have Amman-based Palestinian DJ, producer and rapper Shalaby with a special rave-coded mix of UK bass, techno and grime. For our 295th Select , we have a special showcase set from Cairo Jazz Club 610’s Disco-Tech, a party series dedicated to revitalizing the intersection between tech-house and disco.Skillfully curated and mixed by Disco-Tech’s budding residents Moenes (who’s also the series’ co-founder), Jess, Mazen A, and Muze, the set will take you on a groovy glide with razor-sharp transitions, packed with heavy, funky beats and the warm soulfulness of 90s disco tunes, akin to the uplifting vibes of Disco-Tech parties.

As one of the few rock selectors in the underground scene, Hashem has carved a niche for himself with his dynamic sets, merging various sounds from rock and disco to synths and electro. When he is not behind the decks, Hashem is a singer-songwriter recognised for his smooth alternative synth-pop releases like ‘Other Clone’, ‘Kolena Benmel Fe Youm’ and ‘Bases, Mesh Shayel’.His Select set showcases a fresh, intriguing style that’s distinctly his own, meshing threads of different genres into one cohesive sonic spectrum that’s intense, powerful and thoroughly enjoyable. The set is a mixture of bass, left-field sounds and electro, featuring 80s sonic aesthetics combined with fast-paced beats, prominent bass drums, and heavy basslines along with a few trap samples. An infectious growling bass emerges in the first quarter of the set, followed by a selection of eclectic tunes like Julmud’s ‘Kalma’’, ‘Zein’ by Hassan Abou Allam, and 200 Shams’ ‘Atmana A5taf Youm’.
On this week’s Select, we have Saudi selector Haffs, one of the most promising talents who has been dominating the Kingdom’s dance music scene over the past few years. She has played at major festivals and venues in Saudi the likes of SoundStorm, XP Music Futures and Beast House.Inspired by the unsullied human-earth connection and the serene tranquillity found in the historical oasis of AlUla, Haffs’ select set is a harmonious synergy of deep, melodic house and organic oriental rhythms. The set features a melodic intro of dreamy piano notes, transitioning into atmospheric and tribal sounds interspersed with soft vocals of that ebb and flow, resembling the natural reverb of the desert’s mountains. The set features tunes by a slew of international producers such as Storm, Heart Pieces, Qallin and Dreamland.
This week’s Select comes courtesy of Cairo-based selector Mahmoud Okasha (AKA Zeft Funk), who has been helping Egypt’s top dancefloors groove over the last four years with his distinct blend of italo disco, acid house, textured bass-heavy sounds and eclectic tunes pulled from his own secret collection.For his Select set, Zeft Funk delivers an hour-long mix of fancy funk tunes and pulse-bounding acid, disco and groovy house. The set kicks off with spoken words of the classic intro of radio broadcasting in Cairo, which then wafts through a fire mix of Lineat’s ‘InsBLaue’. For Select 285, we have veteran techno DJ and producer Anthon, a prominent figure in the Lebanese underground music scene, recognized for mastering the craft of dark edgy big room sounds, as well as his ominous twisted techno productions, which are infused with shadows drawn from his own life experiences.Anthon is the founder of one of Beirut’s burgeoning party series, Deep Department, which has been running since 2015. He has done his rounds at some of Lebanon’s most famous clubs and venues, from The Grand Factory and The Garten to AHM, Harbor, Ballroom Blitz and B018. He has also showcased at prestigious clubs across the globe, including Berlin’s Suicide Circus, Montpellier’s PZ Club, as well as Klub Der Republik with the Cluck Im Ohr crew. He has shared the decks with a roster of globally acclaimed artists like Sam Paganini, Boris Brejcha, Dubfire, Stephan Bodzin, Marco Bailey, Reinier Zonneveld, and Victor Ruiz, just to name a few. His extensive discography boasts several EPs, released on famed labels like Mango Alley, UNSEEN Records, Timeless Moment, Phobia and Phobiq. His works also appeared on various artist compilations alongside prominent artists such as Hernan Cattaneo, Citizen Kain, The Element, Oscar L, Blancah, Ten Walls, Soul Button, Space Motion and many more. For his select set, Anthon delivers a dark melodic techno mix, rich with warm synth layers, deep basslines and atmospheric soundscapes.
For this week’s Select, we have Berlin-based underground DJ/producer duo Marko & Bene, aka Longhair. Arguably one of the leading figures in the electronic dance scene, they’re known for their devilishly pumping and harmoniously uplifting sets that dabble in versatile shades of hazy house, with influences that range from disco and balearic to trance and electro. Earlier this year, the duo released ‘Surf & Turf’ EP on the famed London-based label OPIA Records, a deep and progressive house fusion of futuristic funk and dreamy rave nostalgia across four cuts.For their select set, Longhair came in with a pulse-pounding house set, featuring psychedelic layers, acid-licks and rousing synth-heavy grooves with hip-thrusting kicks, combined with a subtle pinch of trance-like repetitive rhythms. The set features tunes by famous international producers such as Eddie Richards, Nanami Togarashi and Hidden Spheres.
On today’s Select, we have SAUD, a veteran DJ hailing from Belgrade, Serbia, recognised for his multicoloured hypersonics, blending hardcore breakbeat patterns with contemporary gradients that gravitate towards a regenerated form of rhythmic psychedelia. He is also the co-founder of Belgradie-based famed rave platform SUTRA, which has brought a roster of acclaimed producers the likes of Gabber Modus Operandi, ZULI, Abadir, Aisha Devi, Mumdance, Batuu, Lee Gamble, Flore and more, to Serbia’s clubbing scene over the last 7 years.Besides running SUTRA, SAUD was featured on Boiler Room x Belgrade. He has also played in various clubs and venues across the globe, from NYC, Berlin, and France, to Austria, Belgium, Norway, Poland, and Beirut, just to name a few. In 2023, he also launched his own club in New Belgrade called Živa.For our 289th Select, SAUD shares the set he played at his club Živa’s season-opening party that took place earlier this year, featuring Kuwaiti producer Van Boom on the lineup. The set, a whirlwind of saturated bass sounds, razor-sharp electro, distorted drum patterns and vocal samples, features tunes by the likes of 3Phaz and Van Boom. “This one is dedicated to my lovely people in Beirut, whom I think of every passing hour,” SAUD tells SceneNoise.
This Saturday on Select, we have Badry, a Dubai-based Egyptian spinner who was raised between Cairo and Toronto, bringing a mix of minimal and deep house that leans more towards the groovy side of the spectrum with hints of acid licks. The set features eclectic tunes like ‘Where You To’ by Harrison BDP, ‘I Wanna Turn’ by Franck Roger, ‘Into the Clouds’ by Politics of Dancing and ‘Planet Express’ by James Andrew. Badry is also the co-founder of Dubai’s party series Duck Soup, curating various parties and events across the city. He has previously showcased at the Groove On The Grass festival in Dubai.
On this episode of Select, we have Taqtuqa, formerly known as Maxi 45. The France-based label run by Egyptian-bred selectors Joseph and Dafadee3o delivers a disco edit and deep club cuts of retro Middle Eastern music and Egyptian cassettes, including tracks by Amr Diab and Simone, featuring multi-layers of pulse-bounding kicks, tabla arrangements, vocal samples and throbbing basslines.Raised between Beirut and Alexandria, Joseph grew up listening to a lot of classical scores and French records. As an avid digger with a passion for vinyl, Joseph’s extensive record collection encompasses everything from classical and synth-pop to house, disco and punk. After relocating to France, he launched his own label, Taqtuqa with DJ Dafadee3o, which specializes in releasing remixes and edits of classic Middle Eastern music and Egyptian cassettes from the 60s up to the late 90s.
This Saturday’s Select comes courtesy of Cairo-born Abu Dhabi-based selector Gloria Roffael. The house mix opens with minimal sounds and a driving 4/4 beat intersected with crisp hi-hats, before transitioning into an upbeat house, featuring vocal samples, light breaks, firm kicks and tunes by the likes of Fantastic Man and Pocket Beagle, as well as an unreleased slow burner by Egyptian house maestro Misty. Gloria has been keeping dancefloors on all their toes since 2018 with her unique blend of house and dreamy electronic beats. She has previously showcased at major regional festivals like Egypt’s Sandbox, at SceneNoise’s Selectbox, as well as Shorelines and Abu Dhabi’s Bred.
For Select 285, we have brought in Willillah, a Lebanese-born DJ, producer and co-founder of Beirut’s HighHats Community, recognised for her innovative productions and dynamic sets encompassing breakbeat, bass, hardcore and more. She has a series of releases on prominent global labels like HHC, Synthwave Records, Glanz + Elend, Aux Records, Ekstasis, and Disorder. For her select set, Willillah shows off her breakbeat and jungle Dnb side, and affinity for distorted kicks and incorporating obscure sounds and unusual elements in her sets. The set opens with a drill track by ‘Naja’ by Palestinian artist El War3i, before transitioning into a cacophony of bouncy kicks, wacky vocals, occasional sultry amen breaks, and tunes by famous producers the likes of Muskila, Booty Bouncer and Clafrica.
This Saturday’s Select comes courtesy of Alexandria-born, Cairo-based DJ and producer Fady El-Tellawy, aka Fady T, whose repertoire of productions encompasses house, techno and trance beats. He has been performing at exclusive private parties and famous venues across Alexandria, Cairo and more since 2019, including Cairo Jazz Club and Lazuli. His select set is a club-ready mix of colourful, groovy and ultra-bouncy tech-house and deep-tech, packed with driving 4/4 beat, punchy kicks, deep basslines and multi-layered claps, hats, and percussive textures, featuring some of his unreleased productions as well as eclectic cuts and tunes by the like of DJ Sneak and Louden.
For Select 283, we have Cairene selector, vinyl collector and multifaceted artist Khaled Youssry. His deep passion for vinyl records led him to travel across the globe collecting records, building an extensive record collection that has become central to his work. Khaled’s commitment to DJing transcends the booth; he is the co-founder of Laselky, a Cairo-bred platform and party series committed to celebrating the roots of Egypt’s underground culture whilst embracing new sounds, and fostering a space for artists to connect and collaborate. He has done his rounds at famous local parties and venues, including Lazuli, Laselky, Cairo Jazz Club, Yellow Tape, Tap East and Cassette, and shared the decks with a slew of international artists like Velasco and Lamalice. “It’s a raver’s journey packaged into less than two hours, capturing the stages I love about the experience of a raving,” Youssry tells SceneNoise of his set, which was mastered by Saharty. “Starting with those warm inviting beats as you enter the club, transitioning to darker electro vibes through the night, then kicking into some high-energy funky rhythms at sunrise, before signing off with a smooth joyful finish that encapsulates the walk back from a rave.”The set features tracks by famous global artists such as Lorenzo Aribone, Gabriel Bel Abbas and Outflow.
Select 282 comes courtesy of Beirut’s rising DJ Andreo, delivering an interesting take on house, where he carefully weaves eclectic hi-hats with ear-tingling synths and luscious drum patterns, showcasing his wholly unique blend of melodic, deep and progressive house. The set features tunes by renowned producers like Ray Mono, The Ginger Cat and Sepp.Andreo initially began his musical career by performing at private parties and has since been spinning in many prestigious venues and clubs across the globe, such as B018, GrubanandGroove, Orient and Express, establishing a name for himself in the regional electronic scene. His sets are known for being energetic, engaging and quite unpredictable. He has recently ventured into music production, working on various new projects to expand his creative reach and evolve his sound.
On this episode of our Select series, we have Cairo’s Adham Zahran, one of the breakthrough producers in Egypt’s underground music scene, recognized for his other alias Relic & Rarity. Having been releasing music on vinyl and digital with various international labels over the last decade, Zharan is one of those artists you should keep on your radar. For this Select, we invited Dubai-based DJ and producer Rose End, who is known for his provocative sound, which he describes as ‘stylish underground’. His sets are a hybrid of deep house, lo-fi electronic, neo trip-hop and techno, drawing inspiration from prominent global DJs like Thom Yorke, Blawan, Terrence Dixon and Ivan Dorn. Rose End is also known for his electronic party series ‘Jack’ and his YouTube channel, ‘Flanger’, where he conducts interviews with seasoned and rising DJs and producers.For his select set, Rose End cooked us a mix of deep house and neo trip-hop that showcase his wholly unique and distinctive style. The set features old samples with ambient melodies, lo-fi elements, potent drum patterns and hints of breaks that will take you on a trippy journey through the sounds of staple underground clubs, from Chicago and Berlin to London and Detroit.
On our 279th Select, we have Beirut-based DJ and producer Nicolas Merheb, who built up quite a reputation in the region’s underground electronic scene with his dynamic melodic house sets. His innate ability to read the crowd has seen him fire up some most prestigious clubs and venues across the globe, from Beirut, Doha and Amman to Dubai and Barcelona, sharing decks with a slew of prominent global artists like Mathame, Rampa, &Me, Marco Carola, Monolink and Adriatique. His select set is a heady melodic house ride decorated with driving four-on-the-floor rhythms and high-voltage pop anthems. The set features intricate arpeggios, throbbing basslines and anthemic synth hooks with hints of tribal house, as well as eclectic tunes like ‘Good Times’ by Tripolism and ‘Born in Blu’ by Chambord.
This Saturday's Select comes courtesy of Uruguay-born vinyl spinner Maximiliano Perez, aka Mape.Mape began his musical career in hip-hop before moving to electronic music, and since then he has been mixing vinyl and doing the rounds in prestigious venues and clubs across Uruguay such as Emile, Living, El Ciclo, Montevideo Micro and Formato Montevideo. He also launched his own record label, AroAro.uy, which puts the spotlight on diverse sounds from various emerging local and international artists. His unwavering passion for vinyls propelled him to open his own record shop 22:22, which is currently located in Montevideo, where he’s based.His sets are colourful and evocative, born from his own feelings and interpretations of various subgenres, crafting stories and generating conversations on every stage he takes over. He is all about chasing new sounds, recognized for delving deep into a little bit of everything from Goa and Bleep to techno and progressive house.“I never focus on one genre in my sets, I really like the sub-genres within electronic music,” Mape tells SceneNoise. “And, I particularly like to tell a story in various stages, trying to communicate what runs inside me with tracks. There are sets that I make with a more linear approach, generating harmony and groove. Other times, I like to link different pieces from different producers that I find have an interesting sound, interweaving their works into something that’s very entertaining.”His select set opens with a brooding ominous melody and a male voice speaking in Dutch as if caught in a vortex, before transitioning into a mixture of swerving synths, drone-like basslines and rhythmic acid, featuring famous talents like Paolo Macri, Lara Martinez, and Barik.
Cairo-born selector Essam has become recognized in the underground electronic scene over the past few years for his refined blend of deep and progressive house, smoothly transitioning between atmospheric and ambient to full-on elaborate grooves. In this edition of our select series, Essam delivers a dynamic set that leans more on the lighter side of things, incorporating progressive tracks with tribal drums and subtle trippy rhythms that are uptempo but still pretty mellow. Featuring tunes from the likes of David Alvarado, Ben La Desh and Soulforce, the set is peppered with warm grooves and layers of organic and synthesized sounds that evoke the feeling of floating in outer space.

In the latest edition of our Select series, we have Hmehdi, a Tunisian selector, label manager and resident at the XPAM label, event and podcast series. When he’s not wearing the DJ hat, Hmehdi is a filmmaker, whose emotional approach and storytelling galvanises much of the music he makes.Inspired by the spirit of 90s clubbing, Hmehdi’s select set experiments with various obscure sounds and trance music in all its forms and peppered with melancholic undertones, powerful kicks and fast-paced rhythms. It’s a wild ride, like something out of Tomorrowland.
Shellwell is a Dubai-based selector who has earned residencies at some of the top clubs and venues across the Middle East with her versatile sets encompassing a wide range of sounds, from minimal and garage to disco, jungle and drum n’ bass.For Select 271, Shellwell delivers a funky, groovy bass-heavy set, featuring thumping drum patterns and hard-hitting tunes like ‘Theme From The Scam Planet’ by Driss Bennis & Swoze, and ‘Night Chase on Acid’ by Kosh. (Disclaimer: there are some rolling accelerated beats and breaks that will keep your foot off the ground).
For our Select 270, we brought in Egyptian music producer Ahmed Mokhles, aka El Mokh. Hailing from Al Mansoura, El Mokh has become recognized in the local music scene with his trademark lo-fi and electro-shaabi productions, fused with elements from drum ‘n bass and techno. For his select set, El Mokh opens with a gentle and ambient Lo-fi flow, dominated by soulful piano notes, portraying his calm side. Halfway through the set, the sound gradually transitions into a cacophony of grungy shaabi rhythms and percussion-infused electronic beats, capturing his other dark side.
This time on our Select series, we have rising Tunisian DJ Dali Chebili, aka Volka, who is also the co-founder of eclectic events series like Fantasy and Tri-City.His select set is a very minimal house mix, featuring rolling deep basslines, mellow synths, laid-back yet funky grooves with hints of smooth breaks, and raw cuts of rare 90s house gems here and there. It’s chill, refreshing and calling for a pool party (urgently).
In this episode of our Select series, we’re introducing Shadzo, an aspiring Egyptian DJ who has been a seasoned digger for over 20 years now. Heavily inspired by 80s Chicago and Detroit house, his set features a selection of funky and fun rare vinyl records such as ‘Foulard’ by Riccardo and ‘Le Velour’ by Shonky. It’s emotional, cathartic and groovy all at once. Speaking of the set, he says, “It is a spiritual message through sound, exploring the intersection between music and emotions, and our inner longing as humans to freely articulate our feelings.” The set was played during an art collaboration between a painter and musician, where the painter materialized the influence of the music on his emotional state on his canvas.
Rising Egyptian selector and avid vinyl digger, Ali Youssef - known for his eclectic niche underground sound, dabbling simultaneously between deep house and electro - brings an exclusive, thoughtfully curated all-vinyl mix of his favourite records to our select series.The set opens with an extended ambient melody with a voice-over by a TV presenter stating, aptly, “It’s not the form of the song that does the healing, it’s the state of the musician while making music that does.” A meditative melody ebbs and flows slowly throughout the set, intersected with swift breaks and chic transitions of minimal house, featuring crisp drum patterns and warm synths. It’s a sleazy chill groove that will get hips and shoulders twisting on their own.
On our 266th Select, we bring you Karam Touba, a Dubai-based selector, DJ, former resident at the Rave Movement parties, and current organizer of the Decibel DXB event series. He has been spinning in the region’s electronic music circuit since 2003, beginning his DJ career by playing drum ‘n bass and jungle before eventually venturing into techno. His sets usually feature selections of dark, deep and hypnotic musical pieces that create an everlasting impact on the dancefloor wherever he goes.Karam brings his signature ‘Proper Techno, No BS’ set to our Select series. The set is a 72-minute mix of pure classic rave vibe and straight-to-the-face techno smack. Better put on those shades for this one.

In our 263rd episode of Select, we’re bringing Montreal-based Bangladeshi singer, electronic music producer and DJ Dameer. Born in a musically-inclined household in Dhaka, Dameer’s sound is heavily inspired by the 80s and 90s music scene in Bangladesh, which he grew up listening to with his father, as well as the works of Tom Misch, J Dilla, Joe Pass and Loyle Carner.Dameer delivers us a versatile full-throttle techno set that opens with an ambient melody of rippling water and chirping birds, featuring original remixes of 70s, 80s, and 90s Bengali classics, spanning rap, hip-hop and more, alongside samples from Shabjdeed’s hit ‘Mtaktak’.
For Select 262, we have rising Egyptian DJ Ali Ghoneim aka Ak Ghoniem, introducing a fresh groovy take on classic tech-house. Opening with spacey atmospheric synths that slowly build up into a hypnotic crescendo of the soulful end of house, the set is peppered with danceable, long and repetitive melodies, 90s Detroit techno and elements of dub here and there.Ghoneim mixes in an eclectic selection of tunes from the likes of Andrew Azara, DASCO, Danny Snowden and Paige Tomlinson, adding more spice to the set.

3lais is a pioneering Beirut-based electronic music producer and DJ, and one part of the eclectic live act Atomic Circus. Born into a household of musicians and artists, 3lais began his musical career at a very young age, quickly becoming one of the trailblazing figures in Lebanon’s underground music scene by the mid-90s. A decade into his residency at Beirut’s B018, one of MENA’s hottest clubs, 3lais launched his own collective, A Tribe Called Tribe, along with the Orient Express record shop in Beirut. 3lais is also recognized for his collaborations with a slew of renowned labels and clubs the likes of Fantome De Nuit, Hypnotic Itd, Club der Visionaere, and Sleep is Commerical. fffarida is a 25 year old Egyptian artist that started off her journey in Cairo. This started off by learning vinyls and then moved forward to playing digital across Cairo with lots of relevant local events. Taking a step forward fffarida has taken her music outside of Egypt and into the MENA region where she DJ-ed in Dubai and Saudi, and is working towards getting bigger. By starting production in parallel to DJing, since the beginning she has been going through all genres until learning to produce has helped her get settled into her current Acid sound while simultaneously still playing other genres for the crowd.

Nova Retra, an Egyptian-Russian DJ, draws inspiration from her multicultural heritage, cultivating a distinctive identity that is both nostalgic and futuristic. This week’s Select is brought to us by Jeddah-based Lebanese DJ Sannude. The artist started off as a classical pianist and a synth player in an indie rock-synth pop band. As his love for music composition and production grew, he embarked on a musical journey, performing indie and funk tunes with his band or behind the DJ set.
DJ Sannude moved to Jeddah over a year ago and was inspired by the captivating deep house movement driven by local legends and upcoming artists alike. Combining his passion for house, funk, soul, and electronic music, Sannude is on a mission to deliver feel-good and “feel-bad” grooves on the dancefloor.

Somalie is a DJ, producer and musician from Dubai, UAE and born to Somali immigrants. He’s been involved with the Dubai music scene since the mid 2000s. Being raised in a multicultural environment in the desert exposed him to various cultures, traditions and most importantly, musical mores from all over the world. The latter is certainly evident in his productions and DJ sets, as he travels across Afro Arab influences. A rising, rampant new force on Cairo’s clubbing scene, K-Laff has slowly but surely built a reputation over the last 12 months or so for his unpredictable selections and seamless sets. A man for all occasions, the 24 year-old DJ and producer boasts an eclectic taste and is versed in everything from house to hip-hop - a variety he gives a glimpse of in the 151th edition of SceneNoise's long-running select series.
Across the one hour mix, K-Laff serves some local alongside some international, the set featuring tracks from everyone from Hassan Abou Alam, Hearthug and Moktar, to Bailey Ibbs and Azealia Banks. Buckle up and enjoy a ride that will take you from breaks, to acid, to heavy bass, to bounce.
Once again, the young Cairiene refuses to abide by genre norms, a signature that has made him stand out with the identity of being an exceptional selector in any given genre. This time, Youssef Yasser takes on an immense set of high energy trance and choppy breaks. Ever since his debut back in 2020 on our Select series, Yasser has come up as one of Cairo’s youngest & most talented selectors, resulting in the young DJ landing spots on France’s Rinse Radio twice and being invited on the NTS Radio Show, hosted by one of Egypt’s top producers, Zuli. Yasser’s appearances continue to grow in prominence and frequency, making his set on Houseplant an exciting one to watch.
Bedoui was born, raised, and based in Tunis but somehow, his soul belongs to all the corners of the world and his artistic influences derive from the deep roots of the human musical heritage, Given his intense love for music and remarkable interest in the cultural layer hidden behind the sound, Bedoui chose to make a commitment out of his passion by converting his digging habit into a permanent pursuit for his own and his listeners happiness.
The vibe he shares is a tribute to the bond that linked and still linking, humans and humanity to the sacred muse of music. A frequent spinner at Tunis’ Club Gingembre, as well as hitting the decks at Downtown Vibes’ 8th Anniversary and the coveted Yuka Club for their 5th birthday, Bedoui is establishing himself as one of the finest rising selectors Tunis has seen in a while. While Bedoui enjoys diversity and keeps his mixes eclectic, as a thorough digger having a wide collection of all genres and styles and mainly rare and obscure sounds is what’s keeping him going as an unpredictable selector, For this mix he pulls out his arsenal of New Beat, Darkwave and some Body Music selections which include the likes of Drvg Cvltvre, Bliss Inc, Exterminador, and more.
Ever since moving to Berlin, Assyouti has been actively rising up through the static competitiveness of the German scene – no challenging feat for the young talent, however. With an eclectic taste for everything demented and destructive, as he told SceneNoise in a recent interview, Assyouti takes listeners on an hour-long ethereal electronic journey for SceneNoise’s 18th edition of Houseplant.
As the head honcho at Tunis-based label and record store, Eddisco, Hamdi RydEr stands as one of the most influential figures on Tunisia’s music scene, a position further cemented by his wildly popular Downtown Vibes party series, which has been running strong for a remarkable eight years.
Having launched the series with co-founder, Aymen Ghannoudi, in 2013 the series went on to become a central piece in keeping the clubbing scene alive and kicking and the duo recently celebrated the series’ eighth anniversary at Tunis club, 117 Gammarth. While many will remember it best for featuring Chicago house legend, Robert Owens, local rising star, Bedoui, and Paris-based Tunisian, Ferta, certainly made a mark as part of the line-up - as did Hamdi himself, who delivered a tour de force of a set - one that we have here exclusively on SceneNoise.

Stepping up to the Select stage this week is 21 year-old Kokla, who has put together an eclectic mix of minimal, house and techno for the 149th edition of our set series.
Music has been a part of Kokla’s life since childhood, learning to play drums at age 8. It was five years ago, though, that he caught the electronic music buzz, when he started to learn how to mix - and the rest is history.
His entry into the Select annals is a one-hour set featuring work from the likes of T.Jacques, Harry Wills, Samuel Jabba, and many more. Enjoy.
For the latest edition of our long-running Select mix series, Cairene DJ Khaled Youssry pays us a visit with a purely vinyl mix of studiously curated acid house and breakbeat tunes.
A student of Egyptian DJ school, Strictly Vinyl, Youssy ‘did it’ the right way, learning his craft with vinyl before going on to learn mixing on digital equipment, which has given him a keen ear and even keener attention to detail.
Still very much at the beginning of his journey, his Select mix shows him to be a man of outstanding taste through what is a mix of acid and minimal house, with dashes of breakbeats, spacey drops and ambient, with the set looking to the work of Vitess, Idris Bena, Hoarder, Augustin Alvarez and more.
It’s been over a 140 sets since we last saw a Nour Fahmy pop-up in SceneNoise’s Select series and, in that time, the Cairo-based DJ has evolved in his sound, and he’s eve living a double life, thanks not a new techno alter ego, AT:MA.
To be precise, Fahmy stepped forward for the fourth Select slot way back when with a house-driven mix, though this time round he brings techno into the occasion, and spices it with some acid-leaning, hypnotic tracks. Dig in.
After first stepping into the world of underground electronic music in Berlin, Youssef Sherif - who goes by the stage name Jobz - has been building his portfolio with mixes and selections for two years. For Jobz, mixing gives him the opportunity to dig deeper into the core of genres, and in the process he is finding his own sound.
The 22-year-old DJ hopes to share his own positive outlook with audiences at gigs through his selection, with an ambition of performing in the city where it all started for him, Berlin. In his mix for Scene Noise, Jobz presents an hour-long selection of his favorite techno and trance sounds, featuring the likes of Keith Carnal, Hadone and Lucin.ee.
Property consultant by day, DJ by night, there’s no doubt that Akladios is one of Egypt’s finest spinners, consistently delivering groovy dancefloor sets and building an enthusiastic following. With a passion for house, disco, and minimal, Akladios has become a staple DJ in the country over recent years in showing the sunny side of electronic music.
Beginning by organising a student DJ campaign for two years, Akladios tried her own hand at spinning and has since performed alongside the likes of Peggy Gou, DJ Heidi, and Jamie Jones.
What’s next? She hopes to perform on the international stage, and will produce her own sound soon to bolster her status. Until then, she presents her brand of house and funk featuring the likes of Chris Stussy, Toman, DJOKO, and Sidney Charles for a one-hour mix.
Inspired by the rapid evolution of Cairo’s party scene, Joe decided to get a piece of the pie and began teaching himself around 2018. For him, it seemed like the next natural step for a massive music fan like himself.
With a long term goal of experimenting with sounds and introducing the Egyptian ear to some of the more unchartered sounds swirling around on the scene. His Select set is a reflection of this, as he dives headfirst into the world of UK garage, 2-step, bass, leftfield and electro, with a splash of modern trance across an hour-long mix that features music from the likes of D. Tiffany, Regular Fantasy, Roza Terenzi, Sweely and more.
Despite having to balance his budding DJing career with the demands of med-school, Cairo-based Youssef Yasser is in a constant state of hunting, digging for the rarest of rarest mind-blowing tracks - an M.O that has seen him make appearances on Rinse FM and ZULI’s show on NTS.
Music has always been a part of Yasser’s life, having learned to play the guitar at a young age. It was in the realm of electronic music where he really caught the music bug, however, and the sheer variety and eclecticness of his selections that separates him from the crowd. Ultimately, his battle is a noble one, as he looks to expand the Egyptian scene’s horizon’s beyond the eight electronic genres local ears have become accustomed to.
From post-club, electro-shabi and experimental ambient, to house, minimal and funk, this is one DJ who spits on the very concept of genre. For his Select mix, he’s chosen to go down the road of funk and house - enjoy.
When he isn’t performing his daytime role as digital marketeer, you can find Amrr on the decks spinning rare tracks. Known for his peculiar selections and methodical mixing style, Amrr enjoys mainly messing around with house and its sub-genres, namely deep house and minimal, as well as adding some break-ish house alongside ear-punching electro.
His introduction to mixing was digital in 2013, before he later learned to spin vinyl. Amrr quickly found himself in the limelight after making his debut in the 2nd volume of Fresh Meat, and he has continuously been on the rise since.
Having played at Glasshouse and Cactus Festival, as well as having a residency with Cairo-based party concept Funkhaus, Amrr’s love affair with electronic music commenced in 2018 during an outing for his favourite party concept, Sakanat, and he hasn’t looked back since.
For Scene Noise, Amrr presents a one-hour house mix, ideal for pool parties and beachside days with a selection that features the likes of Noah Fisher, Vincenzo, Giammarco Orsini, and Thompson Twins.
A computer engineering student who later discovered his love for melodic techno, Marawan has been at it for almost three years as he works to continuously refine his sound selection. In doing so, Marawan launched his own series of sets, M Series and D Series, mixing melodic and deep house, before integrating both genres into one sound.
Recently, Marawan and friends launched their own music label ‘Realm’, where they provide a platform for little-known techno and house talents to release mixes and EPs.
For Scene Noise, Marawan collects hypnotic and mesmerising sound selections from the likes of Stephan Jolk, Mathame, Fideles, David August, and Jeremy Olandur.
Doctor by education, DJ by artistic talent, the young selector has made his mark these past couple of years. After turning heads with his debut in the third edition of our FreshMeat series, Alï earned himself bookings among heavyweights within the local scene, as well as various international acts. Meanwhile, over the past year, Alï launched his own party series ‘Funkhaus’, working to elevate Cairo’s clubbing culture by platforming underground sounds within the community.
In his Select set, Alï presents an obscure selection of inspired diverse sounds, curated for your beach cravings during the seaside season. He doesn’t centre any certain genre, but lets intuition guide a selection that features the likes of Dubrunner, Soichi Terada, Jun Fukamachi, Izumi Kobayashi, and more.
Born and raised in Cairo, ZEYAD entered the electronic party scene in 2017 with an enthusiasm for minimal, house, and techno. A year later, he began working with boogie platform Desimana as a party promoter, which led him to promoting for Glasshouse, Outside, Jellyzone, Funkhaus, and even our own Noise Sessions.
Somewhere in between then and now, ZEYAD began mixing, practicing through the Strictly Vinyl course with Ahmed Samy in 2019, as his love for minimal and house made way for the fast-paced bounciness of electro and breaks.
His Select 139 mix features the likes of DJ Mell G, Jensen Interceptor, Hermeth, and 7uka.
Growing up in Saudi, the DJ also known as Myhand began his music journey listening to guitar-based genres like rock and metal, even playing the guitar for some time. Eventually, he formed his love for electronic music and the Egyptian underground scene, which led him to Strictly Vinyl, an Egyptian DJ school, where he took his first steps in the mixing world.
His genres range from minimal to electro breaks and sometimes show a hint of drum and bass. In this mix, he opts for showing his minimal colours, with tracks from the likes of Acid Kids, Sean Guillermo, Eddy M, and Parsec.
While he juggles the pursuit of a Masters Degree in Berlin, Egyptian DJ and producer Deeb wants to make a scene in the techno capital. With a curation inspired by the likes of DJJ Lion, Truncate, Maya Jane Cole, and Bend Sims, Deeb presents his case.
A set which goes for a lighter overall sound that incorporates raw hypnotic techno, it still hosts his instinctive inclination for hard-hitting sounds as well as love for percussion and sub-frequencies. Having been hitting the drums since the tender age of six before learning to mix at 12 years old, Deeb’s work has always been years in the making.
With a Palestinian ancestry, the US-born, London-and-Amman-raised, Brooklyn-based Felonious Funk is an embodiment of a ‘child of the world’.
Inspired by the life and times of American jazz icon Thelonious Monk, Felonious Funk is a self-described musical soul who was never very good at colouring inside the lines. Alongside her curation for radio shows and funky getdowns, she’s also an international lawyer who does screenwriting on the side, telling #SceneNoise that she is “serious about not taking things too seriously.”
Offering a blissful hour of disco, funk, soul, and jazz by the likes of Peter Brown, Purple Disco Machine, DJOKO, and a host more, we challenge you to remain still through Felonious Funk’s Select 136.
Lyss is one half of the Caucus Kollektiv, which she created with close friend C/EL. The latter had previously featured on SceneNoise’s Select Episode 130, during which ‘La Radio Kollektiv’ was launched to boost spirits of and showcase local Lebanese artists during the party scene pauses of the pandemic.
Since her teenage years, Lyss has been diving deeper into the vast sea of electronic music subgenres while adding her own touches to it. To Lyss, mixing is about experimenting with genres and playing through emotion, as opposed to what is ‘supposed’ to be played or committing to one genre.
Her library is often characterised by industrial techno, groovy-house, and soul. In this episode, though, she’s swinging between house, electro, and breakbeat to express a portrayal of love, anger, nostalgia, and most importantly hope. The mix features Octo Octa, Nexus 21, Solah from Material, and Sakanat’s Mehdi M.
Almost exactly one year on from their last appearance on SceneNoise’s long-running Select series, the Cairo-based duo of STZ and DOU are back to usher in the summer with a one-hour soundtrack to your seasonal beach shenanigans. Best enjoyed on a giant party yacht on the Red Sea (a beach, a garden or even a balcony with a nice view will do) the set features tracks from the likes Louie Vega , Simon Adams, Despa and The Martinez Brothers. A rebel at heart, Cairo-based DJ, Gobara, first fell in love with music through the likes of metal, rock and conscious rap - genres he says portray “the reality of life, uncut and unfiltered.” It still, to an extent, informs his current musical tastes - he enjoys, the gritty, the chaotic and the industrial, elements you’ll find readily in his exclusive one-hour mix for this week’s edition of Select. Featuring tracks from the likes of Ghost in the Machine, New Frames, Oleka, and Somniac One, this is a set that represents Gobara to the fullest.
Data analyst by day, DJ by night, 27 year-old Cairene, Kareem Tarek, is a travelled man. Having started spinning as a member of two-man band, YK Jelly, Tarek went on to secure residencies at several Cairo spots, initially playing groove and UK garage.
He really came into his own, however, when he started experimenting and his exclusive Select set for SceneNoise offers plenty of proof of that.
“The set is about exploring space,” Tarek told SceneNoise of a mix that brings together acid, breakbeat, Iceelnadic techno, destroy tech and many more weird and wonderful sounds. “It’s about communication with extraterrestrials with music - like having a dialogue.”
We were going to sit back and enjoy the set - but this is a voyage into a twisted abyss of music, one featuring tracks from the likes of Hearthug, Briki, Aloka, Hermeth and more. Sitting back and relaxing isn’t the thing to do.
For the 131st Episode of Select, Cairo-based Badreya Electroneya has served up a one-hour mix that features everything from hyper-pop and breakbeat, to techno and IDM, with tracks from the likes of AG Cook, Shy Girl, and Osheyack.
“Category is: escapism,” Badreya told SceneNoise of the set. “A blend of post-industrial, bass-heavy club music, advanced sound design and hyperpop, allowing the listener to enter my meditation-induced hyper-reality.”
Citing Sophie and Arca as huge inspirations, Badreya’s love for music started at a young age, when they would spend hours on end perfecting playlists for friends. They also point to peculiar sounds like rubber or bubbles, which they often add through a synthesiser over tracks. Yes this is going to be every bit the “wild ethereal ride” Badreyah has promised.
It was by an off-the-cuff suggestion that Celine Abboud, aka C/EL, first started mixing, spurred on by her close friend and fellow founder of Caucus Kollektiv, Lyss. She took to it like a duck to water, but during the pandemic she launched La Radio, a platform for artists to be themselves, play whatever they want, and just enjoy their mixes, mainly focusing on local Lebanese DJs, and recently expanding to the Middle East.
For the 130th episode of Select, Celine showcases immaculate selection in an hour of pure dancing bliss. Throughout the hour, Celine goes back and forth between the vast sub-genres of house music, incorporating breaks and breakbeats in her mix, featuring tracks from the likes of Mr. G, Laurent Garnier, and 1998.
Hailing from Alexandria, 25 year-old DJ/producer, Fady El-Tellawy, is in the Select hot-seat this time round and brings with him a rave-ready selection of techno and acid, as well as old-school nineties ’s trance, featuring tracks from the likes of Joey Beltram, DK7, Galaxian and Vladimir Dubyshkin.
“It gets a bit intense sometimes," Fady told #SceneNoise of his set. "I know that it won't resonate with everyone, but part of me likes to think that it's coming from a spiritual place. That, for me, is what dance music is all about - keeping things ravey and dancey."
Buckle up kids, Dublin-based Saudi DJ Moving Still has hit us up with an epic rollercoaster of Arabic inspired techno, house, rave, electro and disco for our 128th Select.

We invited Bahraini DJ Salah Sadeq to record this vinyl only set, and he did not fail to deliver. This Select comes courtesy of Cairo’s Saharty, who was always passionate about music. He used to play with a few local bands before getting into electronic music production and DJing, earning his music technology degree at the American University in Cairo. Saharty’s last year was a game changer when it comes to finding his sound, as he traversed many subgenres of electronic music till he found what he loved the most: lo-fi house. His set is a laid-back examination of the genre that holds both grit and groove.

In our pursuit of looking up obscure talents around the Middle East, we bumped into a Lebanese DJ and vinyl enthusiast, Elie Estephan aka @iamdabs. His sound may differ from one set to another depending on the moniker he’s playing under; normally his sound is diverse and covers a range from jazz and house to techno, but when he plays as Skinny Dabs, expect ‘skinnier’ sounding music with a minimal approach, but no less groovy. This set is a dub techno mix that is the definition of what blue sounds like. It’s a journey that starts out dreamy and gets grungier and more concrete throughout. Light up the dab and get lost in this one.
In Morocco, there is something in the air, a sort of intoxicating essence that makes you feel you are tip toeing a knife edge between the real and surreal. This psychedelia seems to reside inherently in the culture, or more accurately, the many cultures that color the country of the setting sun. Though often written off as an Arabic country (in which there are a vast amount of sub-divisions), Morocco is also very, very Amazigh (Berber), as well as Gnawa and Sahrawi; a diversity that shines a kaleidoscope of light across the country.
Here is a mix-tape of mostly vintage Moroccan music, with a peppering of the modern here and there. From Arabic to Amazigh to Gnawa, from the Rif Mountains to the coast of Essaouira and Agadir, from Western inspired rock & roll to reverbed trance and auto-tuned dance music, this is a little look at what makes Morocco so audibly delicious, intriguing, and downright addictive.
