Sid Going was born in Kawakawa, New Zealand. He went to Maromaku Primary School and Northland College and Chruch College of New Zealand. In 1961 he was a good Rugby player and many thought that he will make the All Black team but he choose to go on a mission for The Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
