Work Ethic is your ability to work hard in all situations in all you do.
In this episode I tell a couple of stories from when I was playing college football at OU. One is a story of terrible work ethic and how it cost the team and the other is a story of great work ethic.
When I was coaching too many times I would spend a large amount of time focusing on players with potential who lacked good work ethic and not enough time praising the players who gave me all they had. Going hard when the lights are on doesn't make you special. Going hard every chance you get to compete makes someone special. Everyday is a chance to compete with who you were yesterday. A team full of hard workers, young athletes with great work ethic, will beat a team with superior talent every time. In college if you didn’t work hard there was always someone un next ready to go. Ready to take your spot.
As a coach or leader do you live out what a good work ethic looks like?
Remember hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.
