With researchers around the world working frantically to create a vaccine for COVID-19, more than 150 vaccines are in some phase of development, with 23 now in human trials. Jason McLellan, an associate professor of biosciences at the University of Texas tells host Lisa Gray, "we are likely to have one or more approved for use by the end of this year." Moderna's vaccine, based in part on the work of McLellan's lab, is about to become one of a handful to enter large scale trials involving tens of thousands of patients.
