For a front page story in the Sunday Houston Chronicle, oil and gas reporter Sergio Chapa reports about the ongoing controversy of oil and gas well drilling within city limits. This being Texas and all, when the public protests permits for a proposed drilling site, the driller usually prevails. But this time, in Arlington, after activists made the argument that air pollution caused by this drilling activity and by the eventual natural gas wells would lower resident's respiratory responses and make them more vulnerable to COVID-19, the city council rejected a permit request by French oil major Total by a surprise 6-3 vote.
