Lisa Gray talks with Houston Fire Department chief Sam Peña and 19-year HFD veteran Captain Daniel Soto about the challenges faced by fire department management and frontline ambulance crews as the coronavirus has sidelined more than 250 firefighters by infection or quarantine. HFD's 140 ambulances now respond to about 1,100 calls for service daily, an increase of 30 percent from a month ago. The majority of those new calls have been about respiratory difficulty.
