Today we discuss another prominent father of Christianity and Judaism.
Jacob; later named Israel by God; was a deceiver. He took his brother Esau's birthright and blessing. However, being chosen by God, our Heavenly Father still desired to redeem Jacob. In a similar fashion, God -through the person of Christ Jesus is in constant pursuit of the lost in this world.
He is equally and simultaneously helping and keeping those who have accepted Him (Jesus) as LORD and Saviour. Just as he carried for Jacob in when he went to search for a wife and flee the wrath of his brother Esau. God protected Jacob, even in those moments when Jacob made mistakes or when Jacob was deceived.
Am I willing to submit my life completely to God's plan & will even when everyone else around me is not?

Abraham's faith and works are actively united. To have the faith and trust in God to take his only son, bind him, raise a knife to kill his son. This was Abraham's self-sacrifice amidst his faith and works. The possibility that his heirs' life would be extinguished was evident. Yet, Abraham believed that even if he did extinguish his sons' life as a sacrifice, Almighty God would raise him (Isaac) from the dead.
Let us stop justifying our sins & faults; instead like Abraham let us justify our faith.

Point to the importance of removing idols/polytheism. The whole world will be blessed through Abraham and his offspring. John 8:56 - Abraham points us, civilization, to Jesus. John 14:2-3 - We are exiles on this earth. Because this planet is not our final home, Does this mean we do not take care of this earth? - Does this give us permission to treat others different from us as insignificant? - Does this mean we have brothers/sisters (children of Abraham) different from us? (culture color, lands, etc.) Abraham and God's covenant point us to the unity of free people under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and that we as Christians are aliens in this planet. Our actual home is the place Jesus is preparing for us (aka. Heaven).

The solution to sin...is Salvation through the person/Godhead of Jesus Christ. He is our Saviour. He is our Master. He is our true King. He is our Redeemer. He is our solution.

Loving God. Loving yourself. Loving others.
Regardless of how others appear, talk, where they come from, what their background is Jesus loves them. We must also love others. The hatred for differences, because of jealousy, or just plain meanness must come to an end. One of the greatest ways to show love is forgiveness/repentance.

John 10:1-11
In the parable of John 10 we see Jesus ' attributes conveyed in 2 ways first He is The Good Shepherd. Next we see Him as The Door. Jesus' character is not limited to just these two descriptions. We have the gatekeeper who is the helper of the Shepherd, a reference to The Holy Spirit.
We see ourselves as sheep and the importance of our reliability upon the ability to enter through The Door and follow The Good Shepherd.
Last we have the enemy whose purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy. The enemy is not just out to damage or steal the sheep, but to ultimately attack The Good Shepherd.

- The religious leaders attempt to politically sway (spin the truth) the former blind man.

A blind man is healed by Jesus. Within moments his neighborhood is divided between belief in the miraculous and disbelief.
John 9:7-23
I. Disbelief begins (vs.8-10)
a. to deny a miracle = denying the person is real.
b. to deny the miracle we look for 'experts' to point us to or away from belief. (vs.13)
Question: To what lengths will I go to, in order to deny Christ the opportunity to work in my life?
II. Everybody is looking for Jesus.
a. testimony of the blind man. He specifically talks about Jesus as his healer.
b. When the people can not find Jesus they turn, not to God in prayer, but to religious leaders.
Question(s): 1. What makes a person an 'expert' of God? - personal experience. -peoples confidence in them. -study. - living close to a religious site. -faith. -the clothes you wear. -closeness in speaking with God. -how you treat others. -how many times one attends a festival. -title. -amount of times a person sings a song, reads a scripture, subjugates oneself to poverty/nothingness.
- Why was it/or was it necessary for the Pharisees to believe in Jesus, before the people could believe in Jesus?
III. Religious leaders can not even believe the facts.
a. The healing took place on Sabbath. Again!!
b. The don't believe the man was blind to begin with.
c. The disagree about who Jesus could even be.
d. Need the parents to help in the investigation.
Question: Why do people argue against actual facts?
IV. Put out of synagogue...
a. Even today people have a fear of rejection, isolation, and protection of their community/culture.
b. Peoples comfort rest in common routine.
c. God is to be our comfort, not routine.
Question: Why is rejection from community a fear?

No matter who I am; I am a work of God. Even in suffering, illness, troubles, and stress I am still a Creation of God. So, is my neighbor.
John 9:1-7 A Blind man from birth is healed.
- Who sinned? The blind man or his parents?
Question: Why is this our default mode? If someone has Covid19, cancer, loses a limb, is blind, etc. why do we automatically assume the person or family is evil or greatly sinned?
A. Someone not like me makes me uncomfortable.
B. I am saddened by the unfairness of the persons malady.
C. I think of myself as more righteous than others, so I avoid people who can make me look weak or unrighteous.
D. We gossip about others hard fought battles downplaying them because we are only out for self-gratification.
E. Karma = makes it easier not to get involved in other peoples lives.
F. We are embarrassed by those deformed, sick, or not 'normal.'
G. We use natural disasters/sickness as a way to blame God and elevate how smart we are.
- Works of God might be displayed in him.
Discussion on the book of Job. What was Job's sin? None. His plight was so that the wonders of God's works might be displayed in him.
Why is this not our default thought? Why is it difficult to believe God would allow suffering to purify us before we reign with Him in heaven?
or are we more like the crowd mentioned in John 8:44. Wanting glory for ourselves. Satan is filled with an all consuming passion...to be worshipped. Are we any different? (Isaiah 14:12-14; Matthew 4:1-9; 1 Corinthians 10:20)
The One with completely perfect sight is saying to us whom are blind, come to me and I will heal you. Obey Christ like the man in John 9 who was blind but then healed. Put your faith in God.

John 8:38-59
- Works of your father.
We all carry similarities, characteristics, and traits from our family. So, how are you like your parents? Have you chosen the positive character traits of your families life?
Abraham exhibited traits of Righteousness. He was faithful. He was willing to sacrifice his own son, though Isaac was ultimately spared. Abraham was a good financial steward. He trusted God. He listened to God. He spoke with God. Jesus is calling these attributes out of the crowd of people, yet at the same time pointing out the truth of their mistakes, err, and sin. Genesis 11:26 - Genesis 25:18; Hebrews 11:8 - 19
- The devil is your father.
In a moment of foreshadow and truth Jesus pints out the similarities the crowd has to the devil . This bond of evil is stronger than the righteousness they speak when they state, we are children of Abraham. The people's attributes are:
Pride, Murderous, Manipulative, Full of Lies.
Do I exhibit Godly traits like Abraham, or ungodly traits like the world? Who does my life look more like, God or His enemies?
- Jesus' Honoring Character
Jesus honors His Father.
Jesus operates in humility.
Jesus speaks a blessing: If you keep my word you will never see death.
If Jesus said He did not know God, then He would be a liar. Because He knows God and is God.
Jesus calls Himself, I AM. John 8:58
4.How can I exhibit a Christ Honoring Character?
I can honor God. I honor God at all times, no exceptions. I honor God with my thoughts, words, and actions. I honor God everywhere my foot steps.
I operate in humility. I squelch my pride. I don't always need to be right or correct in every situation. I may even need to sacrifice my "rights" for others who have no rights. Love my neighbour.
Keep the Word of God.
Pray without ceasing.

- And the truth will set you free. I am free to be a Son of God, serve God, & trust God. I am free from prejudice, false notions, wrongful passions, lust, an entangled soul. I am free to develop my mind unto deeper understanding(s).
As I trust in Jesus, I continue in His Word. I am called a disciple. I am bought and brought into adoption as a child of God. I discover the truth. The truth then encourages me, challenges me, and strengthens me to love myself, my family, my neighbors, to discover my environment. To seek out ways to help others. To surpass sins limitations and literally reach for the stars. As I am free from the entanglement of my soul free to pursueGod and His radical plan for my life.

- Jesus is light of the world. Isaiah 9:1-9. Antimony - a pair of principles stand side by side, seemingly irreconcilable, yet both undeniable. Light is waves and particles. Jesus is 100% man & 100% God. Can I see Jesus? Can I feel Jesus? Can I know Jesus? Can I describe Jesus? Is Jesus also indescribable? Can I fully understand Jesus? Is Jesus still mysterious? 2. Follows me (Jesus) will not walk in darkness. What is darkness? What is a walk? If/when I end up walking in darkness, it’s not Jesus who leaves me. It’s I who’ve left Christ. There is hope for those who repent in not following Christ. 1John 1:9. 3. Light of Life. John 1:1-14. God the Holy Spirit abides in me creating new to be a Light of Life. I’m not a reflection (like the moon to the sun), but I am to be an exact representation (like Jesus is of God The Father). John 17:20-23

John 7:53-8:11. 1. Who brings condemnation? Religious leaders? Society? Culture? Self? 2. What is the grievance? Is blaming someone for a wrong an attempt to cover up your own faults? I’ve noticed a lot of finger pointing in 2020...my opinion is we are afraid. The deep rooted fear in us is we recognize our sin/shame/wrong will be found out & we are guilty. Romans 3:21-27. 3. Should we keep beating ourselves up in private & pointing our fingers at others? -Jesus states: ‘Go and from now on Sin no more.’ -referencing the sexual sin. -Jesus does not condemn us, therefore we must not condemn others. -Jesus has the power to forgive sin. -Don’t jump to quick conclusions about others, stereotype is wrong judgement. -We are to live lives of reflection, contemplation, and repentance.

John 7:37-39. 1. Thirst. Being thirsty is the only condition Jesus gives for belief in Him. What does it mean to be thirsty? 2. Living Water. Living Water is the person of the Holy Spirit gifted to those whom believe in Jesus. O. T. Background of what Jesus is proclaiming; Ezekiel 47:1-12, Zechariah 14:1,8-9, and Jeremiah 17:13 Do I have Living Water flowing from my heart? What does it mean to have Living Water inside me? John 7: 15, 20, 25-36. 1. Belief in Messiah is not a community choice. Belief is a personal choice. Belief is something to be shared with the community. Do questions of belief and doubt shared out loud strengthen or weaken your faith? 2. Jesus proclaims oneness with the Heavenly Father. He calls us to have faith in Him. The Holy Spirit is the Helper who brings us into unity with Christ that we can become Sons of God.

- Authority - we challenge authority of people...We challenge the authority of God. What makes us challenge authority? -insecurity; timidity; ego; role of God for us...makes us think god works for us. 2. Discernment/Right Thinking - to distinguish by sight or other senses. This comes from the helper: Holy Ghost. 2 Timothy 3:1-7; Luke 9:23. LORD, renew my mind to submit to You as my ultimate authority and to rightly judge in my decisions, obedience, actions, and reactions today.

John 6:16-21. 1. We’ve got to stop worshipping idols (Exodus 6:14-25). 2. We’ve got to remove our total dependence from “experts” and place our faith in God. (Psalm 107:23-31). 3. Storms will come. Trouble will happen. Disappointment will occur. We have a comforter in Jesus, through the Holy Spirit (John 14). 4. John 6:1-15 Jesus feeds the 5,000. Jesus sees the need of the people. Jesus meets the needs of the people. Yet, He used His disciples to help provide the miracle of feeding the 5,000. 1. Jesus utilizes His disciples and me. 2. Jesus supplies. Question: Are you needing God to meet/supply a need in your life today? Are you a servant of God, helping to provide a miracle in someone’s life? Or are you needing help and providing for others at the same time? Know this...God loves you, your family, neighbors, and community. Trust him. Self-reliance is over-rated. Know the Jesus is with you today.

John 5:30-47. 1. Jesus says, ‘I can do nothing on my own.’ (Vs.30) Does His example open my eyes to see how important God is in my life? Does His example open my heart to see how important people are in my life? 2. ‘For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me.’ Do I use laws as a way to elevate myself over other people? Do I think I’m more supreme and powerful than others because of my work(s)? Do I suppress others because I secretly feel bad about myself. Jesus has revealed to us He is God - 100%. Jesus has been revealed as 100% man. Jesus’ teachings are good, but they are not the WAY of Salvation. Jesus is the WAY. Jesus is the path of Salvation. Jesus is our salvation.

Are we afraid of who we are; giving ourselves an urgency to distract ourselves with things to do? Instead, may we allow the fullness of Christ, Jesus meet the fullness of who we are. Let us allow Him to be our distraction.
