It's #selflovechallangeday15! Do these sound familiar?
โ "That was a stupid idea!"
โ "No one is going to care! Why bother?"
โ "You aren't smart enough!"
โ "You can't do anything right!"
WHOA! Harsh words? Why would someone be so mean?! I bet you think I should delete that person from my life but, guess what... these are the words "I" was telling myself! The negative inner chatter in my mind was so strong that I felt like I was trapped by my inner meanie.
Recognizing that I was doing this was half the battle and waging war to rebuild myself was not easy. I was so programmed to believe those nasty words that flipping that switch was hard and I was draining myself! What can you do?
๐ Give yourself space and figure out what triggered that thought.
๐ Breathe! Deep breathing can encourage awareness.
๐ Replace those negative words with positive and consider creating an affirmation with these:
I have great ideas and am doing the best I can.
Someone who needs to hear what I'm speaking about.
I am learning to become better and doing my best!
๐ You can give this inner critic a name! It sounds silly but it can work to make a small shift in your thinking.
๐ Remind yourself would you talk to a loved one this way?
Using these steps can help you start to take baby steps on this journey of kicking that inner bully from taking up space in your head. Baby steps! You can do this.
