Pipestone County Commissioners during their Aug. 8 meeting heard about a proposed wind project that could be partially located in Pipestone County. Monica Monterrosa, a director on the development team for Chicago-based Invenergy, presented information about the project, which would be called the Purple Skies Wind Energy Center. She said the company is interested in building a wind project in the area due to the windy conditions and the Buffalo Ridge, and hadn’t developed projects here before due to a lack of transmission lines and subsequent curtailment of wind energy production.
