On Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 17 and 18, people in Pipestone might have observed a rather unusual vehicle in town. It looked to some like something between a tank and a garbage truck. It was in fact, a German-made MAN expedition truck modified to serve as a recreational vehicle. The vehicle was built for off-road travels with a high ground clearance, large tires and four-wheel drive, which was just what the Bayer family, of Stuttgart, Germany, needed for their travels through less developed areas in Central America.
