Dear Editor: I went to the school board meeting January 24th 6:30 pm expecting to hear board members put to a vote mask optional or mask mandate. Made perfect sense to me because not only are we at 39.5% positive rate in our county but Smith Cotton high school cancelled three school days this month because of COVID cases among staff and students. Sixty-two districts reported last Friday's Democrat paper schools canceling one or more days of school because of COVID.  Why wasn't this put to a vote tonight?
