Between 1875 and 1883, the Rev. Edwin Brown platted three additions to Sedalia far to the east of the city center, where the original plat and other early subdivisions were located. The additions, according to the 1882 History of Pettis County, were near the recently built a Pacific Railroad Shops and the M.K.&T. shops, both of which had been built in east Sedalia in 1872-73. The Rev. Brown had been sent to Sedalia in 1865 by the Home Missionary Board of the Baptist Church. When he came to Sedalia, he purchased 40 acres of land and built a large house....
