The phrase the “Yoke of Torah” is heavy with implication. A yoke is a burden baring collar. A yoke brings to mind oxen struggling through a field, and therefore, to many, it might register a sense of enslavement. And yet a yoke, while it looks heavy and uncomfortable, is designed to help spread the weight of whatever burden is being borne.
