The Friday after Thanksgiving, I had a sale near Meadow, SD. I stopped in Milbank and filled up with gas...the price made me smile....99 per gallon! As I headed west on Highway 12, I decided I needed to pay attention to the gas price along the way. Well, from Summit through Webster and Aberdeen unleaded with ethanol was .39. But when I got further west from Bowdle to Selby to Mobridge and Timber Lake the price jumped to .59. Wow! That is quite a difference and with my 36-gallon tank a 60-cent difference is a bill! I also need to replace the tires on my half-ton pickup before the end of the year. I found a set of Michelin tires I liked for 2 per tire installed. I decided to shop around a little and although no one had them in stock they could get them for 9 to 9 per tire installed. So the 2 per tire looks pretty darn good but I'm still not giving them the to dispose of my old one. We are living in an interesting world these days. I am glad the tank of gas and set of tires both came from locally owned businesses and not a big box store. As an owner of a small business, I am a firm believer in doing business with other small business owners. As we move into the holiday season, I encourage each of you to remember where you are spending your money. Spending your money locally benefits people just like you and me.
