By Rita Brhel After last winter’s nearly nonexistent precipitation, many Nebraska cattle producers welcomed the New Year’s winter storm that covered virtually the entire state. The Jan. 2-4 event dumped as much as 18 inches of snow across the Panhandle, Sandhills, North Central, and Southwest on the backside of a swath of ¼-inch ice stretching from south central to northeast portions of the state, according to the NOAA National Weather Service.
